Text: On 06/27/09 at 1230 hours Alaska State Troopers responded to a
report of an assault aboard the Cruise Ship Seven Seas Marine that
occurred while en route to Juneau from Sitka. Investigation revealed an
adult male passenger from Florida was assaulted by another adult male
passenger from Ohio. The male from Ohio will be charged with one count
of Assault IV for causing physical injury to another passenger.

Text: On 06-27-2009, at approximately 2126 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted Walter R. Riede, age 46 of Palmer, after his 1983 Chevrolet
Truck was stopped for a moving violation at approximately Mile 2 Knik
River Rd. Investigation revealed that Riede was operating the vehicle
while under the influence of alcohol. Riede was subsequently arrested
for DUI and was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was
remanded into custody. Bail was set at $500.

Text: On 6/28/09 at approximately 0120 hours, Alaska State Troopers
conducted a traffic stop on a Maroon 1999 Jeep Cherokee at Parks Hwy and
Johnson Road Wasilla. Investigation revealed that the driver 18YOA Anna
J. Cecil of Anchorage had consumed alcohol and was driving while under
the age of 21 years old. Cecil was issued a citations for MOCA and MCA.

Text: On 06/28/2009 at approximately 0050 hours, Charles Abbott, of
Wasilla contacted the Alaska State Troopers to report his Blue 2005
Yamaha Kodiak 400 ATV stolen from his residence on Hallie Drive,
Wasilla. Investigation is continuing. Anyone with information regarding

Text: On 06/23/2009, at approximately 0650 hours, Alaska State
Troopers responded to a report of a 73 yoa male not breathing and CPR
was in progress at 425 Jack fish Rd., Wasilla. Investigation revealed
that 73 yoa, Spencer Kenneth Hill of Wasilla had died at his residence
following an extended illness. Next of Kin were on scene at the time of
death. The State Medical Examiners Office was contacted and released
Hill to the family. No foul play is suspected at this time.

Type: MVC-D/DWLS/Violation of DVPO
Text: On 06/28/2009, at approximately 1408 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of a motor vehicle collision at mile 34 of the Parks
Hwy near Palmer. Investigation revealed that Daniel Ouilette age 31 of
Anchorage, was traveling northbound in a 2003 Ford Taurus, when he lost
control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail in the northbound lane.
There was no reported injuries, all parties reported to be wearing their
seatbelt at the time. The vehicle is considered to be a total loss, the
damage to the guardrail was estimated at over $5,000.00. Further
investigation revealed that Ouilette had been driving on a suspended
license out of Washington and was also in violation of a domestic
violence protective order. Ouilette was transported to the Mat-Su
Pretrial Facility and held without bail.

Type: DUI, MICS 4
Text: On 6-28-09 at approximately 1530 hours AST responded to a REDDI
report near mile 187 Glenn Hwy. The report came in as a gold colored
Lincoln swerving all over the road and into oncoming traffic. AST
conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle and identified the
driver as Dennis Rhodes, 63 yoa of Glennallen. Further investigation
determined that Rhodes was intoxicated. Investigation also determined
that Rhodes was in possession of marijuana. Rhodes was arrested for DUI
and possession of marijuana and transported to the Glennallen Jail.

Text: On 6/28/2009 at 1635 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to Big
Lake Airport for a disturbance call. AST contacted Michael A Roberts (47
yoa of Anchorage). Investigation revealed that Roberts had a warrant for
his arrest on the original charge of driving while license suspended.
Roberts was subsequently arrested and remanded into Mat Su Pre Trial
Facility in Palmer and held on $500 cash corporate bail.

Text: On June 28, 2009 at 12:51am, Alaska State Troopers conducted a
traffic stop on a late model Ford truck in Bethel for failing to stop at
a posted stop sign. Subsequently, the driver was arrested for Driving
Under the Influence. The 17 year old female of Bethel was transported
and remanded to the Bethel Youth Facility.

Type: SAR Update
Text: On 06/24/09, at approximately 2128 hours, troopers received a
report that John E. McConnaughy III, age 55, of Anchorage did not call
his wife when he said that he would. John was hiking from Black Rapids
Glacier on the Richardson Highway to McKinley Village on the Parks
Highway. John informed his wife that he would call every night from his
satellite phone between the hours of 1800 and 2000. John said if he
didn’t call then the troopers should be notified. On 06/25/09 troopers
began an aerial search on the route that John was supposed to take. On
06/26/09 the Civil Air Patrol assisted the troopers in their search. On
06/26/09 the troopers, Civil Air Patrol, and the Denali National Park
helicopter conducted an intense search of the route without any leads on
John’s whereabouts. Through the assistance of John’s wife, troopers
were able to contact the satellite phone company that John rented from.
The satellite phone company’s records show that John had been attempting
to make multiple calls that have been unsuccessful. The latitude and
longitude coordinates of the calls indicate that John was on the Trident
Glacier or McGinnis Glacier since he last contacted his wife on
06/23/09. On 06/27/09 at approximately 2335 hours, John’s wife reported
that John had walked back to the Richardson Highway and was on his way
to Glennallen. At this time it is unknown what went wrong on John’s
hike.

Text: On 6/25/09 at approximately 2237 hours the Alaska State Troopers
received a report of a death in Huslia. Investigation revealed that
Kenny Sam Jr, age 21 of Huslia was deceased. Investigation revealed
some time between the hours of 0130 and 2130, Sam hung himself at a
residence in Huslia and died. There were no signs of foul play. Next
of kin was notified before AST arrived. The SME required the body to be
transported to Anchorage for an autopsy.

Type: Attempted Burglary I, Criminal Mischief IV, Assault IV (X 3),
Resisting Arrest, Indecent Exposure II
Text: On 06/28/09 at approximately 0135 hours, troopers responded to the
end of Veltoby Road for the report of a naked man attempting to break
into the complainants residence. Investigation revealed Steven J.
Hartman, age 33, of Delta Junction was possibly under the influence of
an illegal substance when the incident occurred. Steven busted a window
to the house and he was trying to open the front door. Troopers had to
subdue Steven with the use of pepper spray and a taser. After resisting
arrest for approximately nine minutes a family member arrived and helped
with calming Steven. The complainants did not know Steven and they did
not know why he was trying to break into their house. Steven was
transported to Fairbanks Medical Center where he was treated for his
injuries and then released. Steven was then remanded to FCC on the
charges of Attempted Burglary I, Criminal Mischief IV, Resisting Arrest,
Indecent Exposure II, and three counts of Assault IV.

in Galena received a report of an assault in Ruby where the victim was

Text: On 6/27/09, at 2015 hours, Troopers stopped a motorcycle near mile
40 of the Sterling Highway for speeding. The driver was identified as
Adam Dene, 26 of Anchorage. During the stop it was found that Dene did
not have a valid motorcycle license. Dene was given a citation to
appear in court for NVOL and a citation for speeding then released.

Text: On 6/27/09, at 0157 hours, Troopers stopped a vehicle on South
Fork Drive in Seward for an equipment violation. Mark Jordan, 48 of
Seward, was contacted as the driver of the vehicle. During the stop it
was found that Jordan was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana,
was driving with a revoked license, and was in possession of a small
amount of marijuana. Jordan was arrested and remanded into the Seward
Jail without incedent.

Text: On 6/28/09 on 0105 hours, Soldotna AST stopped a 2002 GMC pickup
on the Kasilof Beach off North Cohoe Road during an investigation into a
stolen generator. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jennifer
McKenna-Foreman, age 23 of Anchorage. Foreman was subsequently arrested
for driving under the influence of alcohol. Foreman was remanded to
Wildwood Pretrial Facility where she was held in lieu of $500 bail.

Type: Burglary 1, Theft 2
Text: On 6/27/09 at 1819 hours Lisa DeMello, age 50 of Kenai, reported
that persons unknown burglarized her family’s cabin on Boundary Lake
near Nikiski, AK on 6/27/09 at approximately 1600 hours. The thieves
gained access to the property by backing their vehicle through the pole
gate at the entrance to the property. A taillight lens was broken on
the suspect vehicle while breaking the gate. A neighbor saw the vehicle
on the property and described it as a late model, silver, GM pickup or
SUV. He was only able to see the front end of the vehicle. Stolen in
the burglary were numerous tools, a generator, an air compressor, a
rifle, camping gear, stereo equipment, and a 55 inch projection
television. Anyone with information about this crime is requested to
call the Alaska State Troopers at 262-4453 or Crimestoppers at 283-8477.
The owners are offering a $500.00 cash reward for information leading to
the successful prosecution of the perpetrators.

Investigation revealed SCHMIDT failed to release two Sockeye Salmon that
were hooked elsewhere other than in the mouth. Further investigation
revealed that SCHMIDT was sport fishing without his 2009 Sport Fish
license in his possession. SCHMIDT was issued a citation; bail is set
at $150.00 and $210.00 in the Seward District Court.

Landing post, contacted Tim Knutson, 33 yoa, of Girdwood. Investigation
revealed KNUTSON was fishing for Sockeye Salmon using a hook with a gap
greater than three-eights inch. KNUTSON was issued a citation; bail is
set at $60.00 in the Seward District Court.

Text: On 6/27/09 at approximately 2315 hours, the AST Bureau of Highway
Patrol, South Central Team stopped a 1998 Saturn near Marth Road and
Plumbley Road in Palmer, after receiving a REDDI report regarding the
vehicle. Troopers contacted Jason E. Vinson, age 28 of Palmer.
Investigation determined Vinson operated his vehicle while under the
influence of alcohol. Subsequent investigation determined Vinson’s
drivers license was revoked for DWLR. He was arrested and transported to
the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where bail was set at $2750 with a court
approved third party custodian.

Text: On 6/27/09 at approximately 0107 hours, Palmer AST and the AST
Bureau of Highway Patrol, South Central Team stopped a vehicle at Mile
34 of the Glenn Hwy. outside Palmer for a moving violation. The
operator was identified as Vilaphone Sonemanivong, age 49, of Anchorage.
Sonemanivong was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence
of alcohol and was arrested for DUI. Sonemanivong was remanded to the
Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was held on a $500 bail.

Text: On 6/28/09 at approximately 1834 hours the AST Bureau of Highway
Patrol, South Central Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of
Johnson Rd. and Schulz Rd. in Wasilla for an equipment violation. The
operator was identified as Shane P. Murphy, age 26, of Wasilla. Murphy
was found to be operating the vehicle with a revoked driver’s license.
Murphy was arrested for DWLR and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial
facility where he was held on a $1,000.00 bail.
