Durham, North Carolina – Durham Police Investigate HomicideDurham police are investigating a homicide that happened early Friday in a parking lot at Chapel Towers Apartments on Morreene Road.
Officers responded to a stabbing call at 5:41 a.m. Friday at 1315 Morreene Road and found a female who had been stabbed with a pair of scissors. The female, Deloris Bethea, 53, of 1011 Morreene Road, was taken to Duke University Hospital, where she died a short time later.
Investigators are questioning a female at this time and are looking at the possibility that the stabbing may have been in self-defense.
The two women were acquaintances. According to witnesses, they had been fighting in the parking lot before Bethea was stabbed.
