DUI Checkpoints & Crime on the Road, Sobriety Checkpoints

Last night at approximately 10:40PM, Leon County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Ross Road and Tall Oak Drive in reference to a shooting. When Deputies arrived they located a 16yoa male and a 17yoa male, who had been shot. The investigation revealed the two subjects had been walking in the area Twin Oak Drive and Ross Road when they heard gunshots. The subjects ran south on Twin Oaks Drive and later discovered they had been shot. Both subjects had been struck by pellets from a birdshot shotgun shell. The 17yoa had been struck with one pellet in the back and the 16yoa had been struck with several pellets on his back, legs and arms. Both subjects were transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital were they were treated for non-life threatening injures and released.

Later at approximately 1:10AM, Deputies responded to the 200 Block of White Oak Drive in reference to the report of gunshots being heard in the area. White Oak Drive is in the same area in which the earlier shooting had occurred. When Deputies arrived, they discovered gunshots had been fired at a residence on White Oak Drive. Deputies located three bullet holes in the residence, two in a front window and one in the front door frame.

Violent Crimes Detectives are following-up on several leads in this investigation and believe these two shooting may be related.
