Hannibal, New York – Cell Phone Helps Saves Man After Logging Accident.

(Hannibal, NY) – At approximately 8:30 a.m. on May 11, 2009, State Police in Fulton responded to 1144 County Route 7 in Hannibal, NY for a logging accident. The investigation revealed that 24 year-old, Brodie R. Weaver was logging on his property, approximately 2,000 feet east of County Route 7, and while attempting to cut down a tree, the tree fell on top of him. Mr. Weaver was pinned to the ground and was able to use his cellular telephone to call 911. Members of the Hannibal Volunteer Fire Department along with Trooper Lee Jessie lifted the tree off Mr. Weaver enough that another member of the fire department was able to cut the tree and remove Weaver.
Mr. Weaver was later transported by Mercy Flight to Upstate University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
