Dover, Delaware – Traffic Stop Leads to Handgun Charges

The vehicle that was pulled over by police was a 1997 Green 4-Door Ford Taurus.
On Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 11:50 p.m. a Dover Police officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of 1435 North DuPont Hwy, Dover. The operator of the vehicle and two passengers fled from the vehicle. A short time later, the Dover Police K-9 Unit was able to locate and apprehend the rear passenger of the vehicle who was found hiding in a wooded area. In addition, Dover police located two loaded handguns that were thrown during the foot chase. One handgun was previously reported stolen to the Delaware State Police. Larry Pierce, 26 of Dover, DE was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by A Person Prohibited, Receiving a Stolen Firearm, Conspiracy 2nd and Resisting Arrest. Mr. Pierce was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a $36,000.00 secured bond.
