Grand Island, Nebraska – Seven DUI Arrests Made During Adams County Special Enforcement

(Grand Island, NE)- Seven impaired drivers were taken off the road in Adams County following a weekend of Saturation Patrols and a DUI checkpoint.
Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol Troop C Headquarters- Grand Island participated in the high visibility enforcements in conjunction with the Hastings Police Department and Adams County Sheriff’s Office. The enforcement efforts which took place beginning in the evening of Saturday, April 18, and continued into the early morning hours of Sunday, April 19, 2009, were designed to encourage safe driving and remove impaired drivers from the roads in Adams County.
Along with the seven DUI arrests, one person was arrested for Driving Under Suspension. Other citations and warnings were issued to include, Speeding (4), No Operator’s License (1), Improper Registration (1), fourteen violation cards were also issued. Violation cards can be issued for vehicle equipment defects.
The Adams County selective was the second of three special enforcement efforts planned for Troop C Headquarters during the months of March, April and May. Grants totaling nearly $8,000.00 from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS) will help pay for the more than 100 hours of overtime for NSP troopers and dispatchers during the special enforcement efforts.
