Type: Natural Death Investigation
Text: On 3/20/2009 at 1702 hours Alaska State Troopers received a report
of a natural death located in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that
Andrea Fenner (65 yoa of Wasilla) died at her residence of natural
causes. Next of Kin was with Andrea when she passed away. Comfort one
paper work was one file. No
foul play is suspected and the body has been released to the family.

Case number: 09-22087
Type: Burglary I, Theft II, Criminal Mischief IV
Text: On 3/20/2009 at 1834 hours Alaska State Troopers responded to a
residence off North Rogers Road for a reported Burglary. Investigation
revealed that an unknown person(s) entered the residence by breaking a
front window. Multiple items were taken from the residence including
electronic equipment, firearms and prescription medication. The damage
to the residence is estimated at $200.00. Investigation is continuing.

Type: Eluding II, Reckless Endangerment

Text: On 03/20/09, at approximately 1817 hours, AST responded to a
residence on Totem Drive in Wasilla to assist OCS with the removal of
several children, and place them into protective custody.  During the
investigation, Valerie Fredericks, age 26 of Sutton, was arrested for
Eluding II, and Reckless Endangerment.  Fredericks was transported to
the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded into their custody.  Bail was
set at $2,500.

Type: DUI
Text: On 3-21-2009, at 0137 hours, the Alaska State Troopers arrested
Zachary S. Mckenna-Johnston, age 22, of Sutton for Driving Under the
Influence.  Mckenna-Johnston was contacted as the driver of a vehicle
stopped by AST near Mile 50 of the Glenn Highway for a moving violation.
 Investigation revealed that Mckenna-Johnston was driving while impaired
and under the influence of alcohol.  Mckenna-Johnston was transported
and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and held on $500.00 bail.

Type: Minor Consuming Alcohol
Text: On 3-21-09 at approximately 0450 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a residence on Knik River Road, Palmer following a report
of a disturbance.  Investigation revealed Lane T. Theodore, age 18 of
Palmer had consumed alcohol and was causing a disturbance at the
residence.  Theodore was arrested for Possession/ Consumption of Alcohol
While Under the age of 21. Theodore was remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial
Facility and on $100.00 bail.

Type: Driving Under the Influence/Driving While License Revoked

Text: On 03-21-2009 at approximately 0339 hours, Alaska State Troopers
conducted a traffic stop on a Black, 1992  Chevrolet Blazer near
Leatherleaf Drive and Bogard Road in Wasilla for a moving violation. 
Investigation revealed that Cole G. Liptak, age 26, of Wasilla was found
to be operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. 
Investigation also revealed that C. Liptak’s drivers license was revoked
for a previous DUI. C. Liptak was arrested for DUI, DWLR and issued a
citation. C. Liptak was transported to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility
where he was held on $5000.00 cash only bail and a Court Approved Third
Party.

Type: MVC-D

Text: On 3-21-09 at approximately 0904 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to Palmer-Wasilla Highway near Snider Drive, Wasilla, for a
reported motor vehicle collision.  Investigation revealed that a pink
1996 Hyundai Accent, operated by Mary J. Fierro, age 58, of Wasilla, was
heading East on Palmer-Wasilla Highway, when she was temporarily blinded
by the sun and struck the end of the guard rail.  No injuries were
reported.  Fierro and her passenger were wearing seat belts.  The
vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000.00 worth of damage.  DOT was
notified of the damage to the guard rail.

Type:  DWLS

Text:  On 3-21-09 at approximately 1437 hours, Troopers stopped a Nissan
truck at mile 54 of the Parks Highway for a moving violation.  The
driver was identified as Arta Lee, age 53 of Houston.  Investigation
revealed that Lee had a suspended Nevada drivers license.  Lee was
issued a summons to appear in court and the vehicle was released to a
licensed driver.

Type:  NVOL

Text:  On 3-21-09 at approximately 1910 hours, Troopers stopped a Chevy
truck on Willow Fishhook Road for a moving violation.  The driver was
identified as Jeremy Thomas, age 21 of Willow.  Investigation revealed
that Thomas did not have a drivers license.  Thomas was issued a summons
to appear in court and the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Type: Warrant arrest

Text: On 3/21/09, at 0900 hours, VPO Jerome Kelly contacted Andrew
Makaily III, 25 of Pilot Station.  Makaily was arrested on an
outstanding warrant for violating conditions of release.  Makaily was
transported to Bethel and remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional
Center.  Bail is set at $1000.00 cash and a CATPC.

Type: Assault in the Fourth Degree / Misconduct of Weapons in the Fourth
Degree

Text: On 3-19-09 at 1922 hours it was reported to the Alaska State
Troopers, Aniak Post that John P. Nikolai (33 years old of Nikolai) had
assaulted his girlfriend. Troopers responded from Aniak and John was
arrested and held in Nikolai over night. The victim was treated at the
Nikolai Clinic and released. Alcohol was involved.

Text: On 3/16/09 Alaska State Troopers received a report of an adult
male assaulting an adult female in Quinhagak on 3/14/09.  The incident
is being investigated by the Quinhagak Village Public Safety Officer.

Text: On 3/20/09 Alaska State Troopers investigated an alleged sexual
assault that occurred in Quinhagak.  The investigation revealed that the
sexual encounter between the two parties involved was non criminal.

Location: Seward
Case number: 09-22013
Type: MVC-D, No Vehicle Insurance

Text: On 3/20/09, at 1430 hours, Troopers responded to mile 12 of the
Seward Highway for a single vehicle rollover.  An investigation showed
that Jack Purdy, 52 of Moose Pass, was traveling north bound on the
Seward Highway when he lost control due to ice on the roadway.  His
vehicle slid across the roadway and struck a snow berm and rolled onto
it’s side.  Purdy was not injured and reported that he was wearing his
seat belt at the time of the incident.  Further investigation found that
Purdy did not have insurance covering the vehicle.  Purdy was issued a
citation to appear in court for operating a vehicle without insurance.

Type: DWLR, Violating Release Conditions

Text: On 3/21/09, at 1150 hours, Troopers contacted Jonathan Cosio, 42
of Seward, after seeing him drive a vehicle while his license was
revoked.  Troopers arrested Cosio and transported him to the Seward
Jail.  While at the Seward Jail Troopers found that Cosio was also
violating his conditions of release for an unrelated court case.  Cosio
was remanded into the Seward Jail pending arraignment.

Type: DUI

Text: On 3-21-2009 at approximately 2030 hours, Soldotna AST contacted
Timothy  Wood, 21 of Nikiski, in the lobby of Wildwood Pretrial in
Kenai.  Investigation reveled Wood was intoxicated and drove a motor
vehicle to WWPT after consuming alcohol.  Wood failed field sobriety
tests and was arrested for DUI.  Wood was remanded to WWPT with $500.00
bail.

Location: Anchorage/ Basher Trailhead

Case number: 09-22252

Type: Bear Sighting/ Animal Nuisance

Text: On 03-21-09 Palmer Wildlife Troopers received a call form
anchorage Police dispatch reporting that a bear  had treed a man
approximately 1/4 up the Basher Trail near Campbell Airstrip.  Palmer
Wildlife Troopers arrived on scene at 1340 hours.  The victim, Charles
L. Lamb of Anchorage described being forced up a tree by a large black
bear at approximately 1130 hours.  Lamb was able to get the attention of
unidentified persons that were walking with dogs in the area, the dogs
were able to chase the bear away.  Lamb also described being “stalked”
by the bear for the next 1/2 mile while walking out with the
unidentified persons.  Alaska Wildlife Troopers walked to the are
described by the victim and located fresh bear tracks and hair
consistent with that of a black bear.  Alaska Wildlife Troopers were
unable to locate the animal and left the area at 1444 hours.  Bear
warning signs were posted in the area.

Text: On 3/17/09 Nome AST received an anonymous tip that Casey Iyakitan,
age 26, of Gambell, AK was on Frontier Alaska flying home to Gambell
with alcohol. VPO Apatiki and VPO Oozevasuk contacted Iyakitan and
removed 4-750ml bottles of alcohol from his luggage. Charges will be
referred to OSPA.

Type: MCA / Minor Operating vehicle after MCA / Warrant Arrest
Text: On 3/21/2009 at 0416 hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway
Patrol stopped a silver 2001 Pontiac car for speeding.  The driver was
identified as Ashley Nicole Kermes, age 18 of Fairbanks.  Investigation
revealed that Kermes had consumed alcohol and then driven the car.  She
was issued citations for Minor Consuming Alcohol and Minor Operating
vehicle after MCA.  Brandon Riley Smith, age 23 of Fairbanks, was a
passenger in the car.  He was found to have an outstanding warrant for
his arrest for Probation Violation.  Smith was arrested and remanded at
Fairbanks Correctional Center.
Bail was set at $250.

Text: On 3/21/2009 at 0250 hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway
Patrol stopped a red 1993 Ford Explorer for an equipment violation.
Alexandria Peters, age 21 of Fairbanks, was identified as the driver.
Investigation revealed Peters’ Alaska driving privileges had been
revoked.  She was issued a misdemeanor citation for Driving While
License Revoked.

Type:  MVC-D, DUIx2
Text:   On 3/20/09 at approximately 2005 hours, the AST Bureau of
Highway Patrol, South Central Team responded to All Elks Road off of
Mile 58 Road in Sutton for the report of a motor vehicle rollover.
Investigation revealed Cherie L. Varah, age 56, of Sutton, was traveling
northbound on All Elks Road 500 feet from Mile 58 Road when she lost
control of her1998 Ford pickup,  hit the snow bank, and rolled the
vehicle onto its side.  Rodney E. Varah, age 49, of Sutton, responded to
the scene in a separate vehicle to aid in pulling the vehicle out of the
ditch.  R. Varah and C. Varah were both found to be operating their
vehicles while under the influence of alcohol.  C. Varah reported no
injuries and was wearing her safety belt.  Damage to the vehicle was
estimated at over $4,000.00.  C. Varah and R. Varah were both arrested
for DUI and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.  C. Varah was held
on a $500.00 bail.  R. Varah was held on a $1,000.00 bail.

Location:  Mi 5 Goldstream Rd.  Fairbanks

Type: DUI.
Text: On 3-20-09 at 2330 hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway Patrol
stopped a 2002 Toyota truck, for failing to maintain proper lane of
travel.  Upon contact with the driver, investigation revealed the driver
emitted a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from about his breath and
person.  The driver was identified as Robert Simard, (DOB 9-13-77) of
Fairbanks.  Simard showed impairment on all FST’s.  Investigation
revealed Simard was DUI.  Simard was arrested and transported to UAF PD
where he provided a sample of his breath on the Datamaster which
resulted in a .109% BrAC.  Simard was transported to FCC where he was
remanded for DUI.

Location:  Airport Rd near Peger Rd.  Fairbanks

Type: DUI.
Text: On 3-21-09 at 0250 hrs, the AST Northern Bureau of Highway Patrol
stopped a 2001 Toyota car, for exceeding the posted speed limit.  Upon
contact with the driver, investigation revealed the driver emitted a
strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from about her breath and person.
The driver was identified as Cailey

Holm-Mcrae, (DOB 4-08-1987) of Fairbanks.  Holm-Mcrae showed impairment
on all FST’s.  Investigation revealed Holm-Mcrae was DUI.  Holm-Mcrae
was arrested and transported to UAF PD where she provided a sample of
her breath on the Datamaster.  Holm-Mcrae was transported to FCC where
she was remanded for DUI.
