Text: On 3/5/2009 at 2212 hours Alaska State Troopers received a report
of a natural death located in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Rubye
Melton (89 yoa of Wasilla) died at her residence of natural causes. Next
of Kin was with Melton when she passed away. Comfort One paper work was
on file. No foul play is suspected and the body has been released to
the family.

Text: On 3-5-09 at 1615 hours AST in Palmer arrested John Krizenesky,
age 52, of Nikiski for an outstanding APD arrest warrant for failure to
appear on an original charge of no insurance after he was contacted by
AST at the scene of a vehicle in the ditch. He was subsequently remanded
to MatSu Pretrial Facility and held on $250.00 bail.

Text: On 03/05/09 at approximately 1730 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a motor vehicle collision at approximately mile 54 of the
Glenn Hwy in Palmer. Investigation revealed that Audre Hines, age 50 of
Glennallen, was traveling north on the Glenn Hwy when she lost control
of her 2002 Chevy van and impacted a 1996 Subaru driven by Kim Sollien,
age 36 of Palmer. There were no reported injuries, the damage for the
Subaru estimated over $ 2,000. Hines was issued a citation for failure
to use due care to avoid a collision.

Text: On 3-5-09 at approximately 2200 hours, Troopers responded to a
death at a residence near mile 98 of the Parks Highway. Investigation
revealed that Charles Krompacky, age 66 of Talkeetna, had passed away
after an illness. Next of kin was on scene and Krompacky was released
to Kehl’s Mortuary.

Troopers, for a warrant service at his residence in Wasilla. The

Text: On 3-6-09 at approximately 0355 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted Stephen A. Willson, age 20 of Anchorage, as the driver of a
1993 Chevrolet truck at the intersection of Big Lake Road and Padre Pio
Road while investigating the report of a suspicious vehicle.
Investigation revealed that Willson was driving without a valid drivers
license. State Troopers also located drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
A field test of residue left on the paraphernalia indicated positive for
Methamphetamine. Willson was arrested NVOL and for MICS 4. Willson was
transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was remanded into custody on
$1,000.00 bail.

Text: On 3-6-09 at 1147 hours, AST responded to the intersection of
Palmer-Wasilla Hwy. and Schelin Spur for a 2 vehicle rear end collision.
52 year old Jeffrey Lamb of Wasilla was eastbound on PWH driving a 2007
school bus and slowing down for a stop light when the bus was rear-ended
by a 1988 Chevrolet pickup driven by 81 year old Gerhard Groeschel of
Wasilla. There were 4 passengers on the bus at the time, and one
student complained of back pain but was treated and released on scene by
EMS. Both drivers reported wearing seatbelts. Mr. Groeschel was issed
a citation for Fail to Exercise Due Care to Avoid a Collision. His
vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene, and the bus received about
$2000 damage.

Text: On 3-6-09 at 0915 hours, AST responded to a single vehicle
rollover at mile 6.2 Knik-Goose Bay Road. Subsequent investigation
revealed Jacob Matlock, age 28, of Wasilla was attempting to pass
another vehicle when he lost control of his vehicle, exited the roadway
and rolled over causing approximately $3000.00 in damage to his 1989
Chevrolet Suburban. Matlock’s 2 children were both in approved child
safety seats and uninjured. Matlock reported wearing his seatbelt and no
injuries. Matlock was subsequently issued citations for Due Care to
Avoid a Collision and No Proof of Liability Insurance.

Wasilla was contacted by the Judicial Services Warrant Section, Palmer,

Rose’s residence to serve an arrest warrant. The warrant was for
Failure to Remand to Serve Jail Time on the original charge of Driving
While License Suspended/Revoked/Canceled. Rose was taken into custody

Text: On 2/26/09 at approximately 0952 hours, The Alaska State Troopers
received a report of a domestic violence assault that occurred on
2/19/09 in Elim. The investigation revealed that Eric Daniels, 36 yoa
of Elim, had assaulted his wife. Eric Daniels left the village and an
arrest warrant was requested by Nome AST for the charge of Assault IV
DV. Daniels was arrested in Anchorage by APD on the arrest warrant.

Text: On 03/6/2009, at approximately 1500 hours, The Alaska State
Troopers in Bethel received a call from Eek Village Police Safety
Officer, John Friendly, who reported that Peter Joshua., called and told
him that he just found his brother deceased in the family residence from
what appeared to be a self inflicted gunshot wound from a .22 caliber
rifle. The details and circumstances of this reported event are unknown
at this time; the Alaska State Troopers are responding to the Village of
Eek to investigate. Next of kin has been notified and the investigation
is currently on going. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a
factor in this incident. Updates will follow.

Text: On 03/0/2009, at approximately 0900 hours, Alaska State Troopers
in Bethel received a call from Scammon Bay reporting that on the evening
of 3/6/2009 a young 18 year old male had been victim of a self inflicted
gunshot wound to the shoulder. The young male was seen medically in
Scammon Bay and later placed under title 47 by Scammon Bay Village
Police. The young male will be transported to Bethel as soon as weather
allows. It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in this
incident.

Text: On 3/62009, at approximately 1800 hours, Reginald Kaganak (age 32
of Scammon Bay) was arrested on an out standing $750 Arrest Warrants.
The Arrest Warrants was issued for Kaganak by the Chevak 4th District
Court for the Charge of Burglary in the 1st degree. Kaganak was arrested
without incident by Scammon Bay Village Police and later transported to
Bethel where he was remanded to YKCC.

Text: On 3/5/2009 at 1723 hrs AST observed a male and female involved in
a physical altercation in the parking lot of their Dartmouth residence.
AST contacted Francis Sweetsir, age 27 and his girlfriend, age 28, both
of Fairbanks. Sweetsir was subsequently arrested and charged with one
count DV Assault IV after it was determined that he had assaulted his
girlfriend. Sweetsir was taken to FCC, where he was held without bail.

Text: On 3/6/09 at approximately 0157 hrs, AST contacted Jeremy E. Hart,
age 32 of Soldotna, operating a 2003 Ford Explorer on Ravenwood St, in
Soldotna after he lost control of his vehicle and went into the ditch.
Jeremy Hart was found to be impaired by alcohol and subsequently
arrested for DUI. Jeremy Hart was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial without
bail, due to him having one prior DUI conviction within the past 15
years.

Text: On 03/05/09 Troopers conducted Sex Offender Registration
compliance checks. Troopers contacted Keith R. Bartman, 24 yoa of

Bartman was out of compliance with his required registration with the
Sex Offender Registry.
Bartman was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial without incident.

Text: On 3/6/09, at 1055 hours, a Trooper from Girdwood responded to
mile 98 of the Seward Hwy. for a motor vehicle crash involving injuries.
A scene investigation revealed James Hickey, age 18 of Anchorage, had
been driving south on the Seward Hwy near mile 98 when he lost control
of his 2004 all wheel drive Subaru sedan on icy roads. The vehicle
crossed the oncoming lanes and exited the roadway. It then rolled one
time coming to rest upright. The vehicle was completely destroyed. The
passenger in the vehicle, Geoffrey Harnett age 18 of Eagle River,
received minor cuts to his right hand from broken glass. Medical
treatment was not required. Icy roads and driver inexperience are
believed to be major contributing factors in the cause of the crash.

Text: On 2-6-09 at approximately 1418 hours, Soldotna based AST
responded to a residence on Ramona St in Nikiski for an assault.
Investigation reveled Michael Wicker, 46 of Nikiski, assaulted a family
member by striking the person in the head with two drinking glasses, and
biting the person on the arm. Wicker also prevented the family member
from reporting the crime to police by taking the phone away. Wicker was
arrested and transported to Wildwood Pretrial and remanded with no bail.

Text: On 3-5-2009 at approximately 2127 hours, Soldotna AST responded to
mile 18 K Beach for a two vehicle crash. Investigation reveled that
Sandra Scott, 21 of Kenai, was traveling north on K Beach when two
pedestrians attempted to cross the road. Scott attempted to avoid the
pedestrians and lost control of her 1998 Ford Expedition. Sarah
Shisler, 46 of Kenai, driving a 2007 Ford SUV was not able to avoid
Scott’s vehicle. The impact caused damage to both vehicles. No
injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Type: Burglary (x2), Theft, Criminal Mischief, Vehicle Theft, Felony Elude, Assault
Text: On 3-5-2009 at approximately 1351 hours Alaska State Troopers responded to a
reported Burglary in progress. Troopers responded to the area of Hyer Spur in Wasilla
where a home owner was reporting when he arrived at his residence he found a light
blue pick-up backed up to his front door. The home owner entered the residence and
found a man stacking items by his front door. The home owner armed himself with a
guitar and struck the man. The man attempted to fight back, striking the home owner
in the face before fleeing the scene. Troopers were alerted to the vehicle description
and were able to locate the vehicle near 4 mile KGB. A Palmer Police Officer assigned
to the AST Alaska Bureau of Highway Enforcement attempted to stop the vehicle but were
led into a pursuit which ended when the operator lost control of his vehicle at the end
of Clapp Road off Knik Goose Bay Road. The man fled north bound from his vehicle on foot.
Alaska State Troopers K-9 unit, Wasilla PD, and Palmer AST Patrol responded and were able
to track the suspect through deep snow and adverse weather conditions. K-9 Roelle and his
handler located the suspect hiding in the woods. Troopers identified Daniel Bailey age 20
of Wasilla as the operator of the vehicle. Bailey was later identified by the home owner
as the same person who was in his residence. Investigators with the Alaska Bureau of
Investigation Property Crimes Unit interviewed Bailey and were able to link him to another
Burglary which was reported on 3-4-2009 near Iliamna in Wasilla where a trailer and other
items were taken. Bailey was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial and charged with (2) counts of
Burglary I, (2) Theft II, (3) Criminal Mischief III, (1) Misconduct involving a controlled
substance IV, (1) Vehicle theft I, (1) Felony Failure to stop, and (1) Assault IV. Bail
was set at $10,000.00 cash only and a court approved third party.

Text: On 3/4/09 at approximately 1700 hours the AST Bureau of Highway
Patrol, South Central Team investigated a motor vehicle collision on
Knik Goose Bay Rd. at the intersection with Fairview Loop in Wasilla.
Investigation revealed a 1991 Ford Ranger pickup driven by KYLE POITRY,
age 20 of Wasilla, slid into the side of a 2007 Pontiac G5 driven by
LORRAINE BRITT, age 59 of Wasilla. Damages were estimated at
approximately $4,000 and all occupants reported wearing their seatbelts.
Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
