Espanola – State Police arrest 36 year old Benjamin Myers of Embudo, NM for the Murder of 47 year old Mark S. Weber also of Embudo, NM.
Early Friday morning the Espanola State Police office received a 911 call of a man that was shot in the chest near the town of Embudo just north of Espanola, NM. Officers and medical personnel were dispatched to #2196 off State Road 68 near Embudo, upon the officer’s arrival they quickly learned that a dispute turned deadly.
State Police Investigations Bureau was called into the incident and through the interviews that lasted into the early morning hour of Friday the 19th. The Investigations Bureau determined that Mr. Myers, Mr. Weber and a third party were involved in a verbal confrontation that tuned into a physical fight, during the fight Mr. Myers was able to separate himself grabbed his shotgun and shot Mr. Weber in the chest from within 15 feet.
Mr. Myers was charged with 2nd degree murder after consultation with the Rio Arriba County District Attorney’s office. Mr. Myers was booked into the Rio Arriba County Detention Facility in Tierra Amarilla, with no bond.
