On November 19, 2008 at about 7:20 am, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a two vehicle crash which injured both of the drivers. The crash occurred on LA 146 (milepost 39) just north of LA 145 in Jackson Parish. A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east on LA 146 when it crossed into the westbound lane to avoid rear ending a vehicle that was stopped waiting to make a left turn.
The Chevrolet then struck a westbound 1992 Dodge van head-on.
The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as 26 year old William Cantrell Jr. from Ruston, LA. Mr. Cantrell was transported to LSU-Shreveport hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Dodge has been identified as 55 year old Albert Walker from Ruston. Mr. Walker was also transported to LSU-Shreveport hospital with moderate injuries.
Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending. Seat belt use is unknown at this time. No citations have been issued yet and the crash is still under investigation.
