On Friday, October 10, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop E Troopers Adrian Landreneau and Joey Simms completed the Northwestern Basic Operators Motorcycle Course taught by Louisiana State Police instructors.
The class was comprised of two weeks of rigorous training located in Kenner, LA. The course dealt with everything from how to start the motorcycle, maneuvering the motorcycle at slow speeds, traffic stops, and motor officer survival. Each Trooper must successfully complete the training course before he/she is allowed to operate the motorcycle, in an official capacity, with Louisiana State Police.
Trooper First Class Adrian Landreneau is a graduate of Alexandria Senior High School and a graduate of Louisiana State University. While at LSU, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering. He was hired by Louisiana State Police in 2003 and was/is assigned to Troop E. TFC Landreneau is a Crash Reconstructionist and holds his Private Pilot license with Instrument rating. He has been married for three years to Mrs. Becky Landreneau and they are the parents of two children. TFC Landreneau and his family are proud residents of Rapides Parish.
Trooper Joey Simms is a graduate of Bolton High School. He has two years of prior law enforcement experience with Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and five years of prior law enforcement experience with Alexandria Police Department. During his time at Alexandria Police Department, he was assigned to the Motorcycle Unit Division for approximately one year. He was hired by Louisiana State Police in 2006 and was/is assigned to Troop E. Trooper Simms is also a member of the Louisiana State Police Mobile Field Force Unit. He has been married for 11 years to Mrs. Laure Simms and they are the parents of two children. Trooper Simms and his family are proud residents of Rapides Parish.
This is the first time Troop E has had Troopers specifically assigned to motorcycles. The motorcycles will be used for traffic enforcement, escorts, parades and other community events.
