Vancouver - On October 5, 2008, at approximately midnight, a trooper tazed a subject after he ran from a vehicle during a traffic stop.
The incident started on October 4, 2008, at approximately 11:55 PM, when a trooper stopped a vehicle for a light violation and expired license plate tabs westbound SR 500 near NE St. Johns Road. During the traffic stop, the passenger, later identified as Brandon K. Seever, a 27 year old resident of Vancouver, jumped out of the vehicle and took off running. The trooper asked the driver why he ran, and she said, “Because he is stupid and has warrants for his arrest.” The warrants were confirmed through WSP Communications.
The trooper requested assistance from other troopers in the area. When another trooper arrived, he observed Seever running north on NE St. Johns Road. The trooper told Seever to stop several times, but he kept running. Seever ran through a wooded area with the trooper right behind. Seever failed to stop and the trooper deployed his taser, which was effective. Seever fell to the ground and was taken into custody without further incident.
Seever did not require, and refused medical treatment. Seever was booked into the Clark County Jail for obstructing a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, possession of used drug paraphernalia, and four misdemeanor warrants.
