Text: On 10-5-08, at 2020, Michael J. Tolle, age 64 of Juneau was issued
a summons for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license after he
was stopped near Milepost 19 of the Glacier Hwy. A local cab company was
contacted and agreed to provide transportation for Tolle to his
residence. Arraignment is set for 10-16-08, at 1:15 PM in the Juneau
District court.

Type: MVC-Injury 
Text: On 10/04/08, at approximately 2317 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a single vehicle MVC near Mountain Circle in Wasilla.
Investigation revealed that Cory Kilbourne, age 20, of Wasilla, was
traveling westbound on Fairview Loop in his 1999 Ford F150 pickup truck
when he swerved to avoid a moose in the road.  Kilbourne lost control of
his vehicle, and flipped several times. Passengers in Kilbourne’s
vehicle reported wearing their seatbelts and received minor injuries.
EMS cleared and released them at the scene.  Damage to the vehicle was
estimated at over $2,000.00.

Text: On 10/04/2008, at approximately 2044 hours, Alaska State Troopers
conducted a traffic stop at Palmer Wasilla Hwy and Winding Brook Road on
a green Jeep Cherokee, for expired registration.

Investigation revealed the driver, Donald Thomas, age 27, of Girdwood,
was driving on a suspended license for DUI, multiple DWLS convictions,
and Failure to Pay Damages from a previous

collision. Thomas was remanded on $500 bail to the Mat-Su Pretrial
Facility on the charge of DWLS.

Type: Motor vehicle collision 
Text: On 10/04/08, at approximately 1814 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles
on Shaws Drive near Charley Drive in Wasilla. Investigation revealed
that Denise Saucier, age 59, of Wasilla, was traveling southbound on
Shaws Drive in her 1979 Volkswagon van when she struck a northbound 2003
Chevy pickup truck driven by Larry Blanks, age 34 of Anchorage. Damage
to both vehicles was estimated at over $ 2,000. Saucier was issued a
citation for Driver to Exercise Due Care to Avoid a Collision. No
injuries were reported and everyone involved were wearing seatbelts.

Text: On 10/5/08 at approximately 0005 hours, the AST South-Central DUI
Enforcement Team stopped a 2007 Ford pickup near Knik Goose Bay Road and
Settler’s Bay Drive, for speeding.  The driver of the vehicle was
identified as Sherry J. Vanveldhuizen, age 40, of Anchorage. 
Investigation revealed Vanveldhuizen was operating the vehicle under the
influence of alcohol.  Vanvelhuizen was arrested for DUI and transported
to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility where she was held on $500.00 bail.

Type:  DUI
Text:  On 10/5/08 at approximately 0122 hours the AST South Central DUI
Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Fairview
Loop and Marble Way in Wasilla for a moving violation.  The operator was
identified as Don A. Grant, age 57, of Wasilla.  Grant was found to be
operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was arrested
for DUI.  Grant was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he
was held on a $1,000.00 bail.

Type: DUI/MVC-D
Text: On 10/05/2008 at approximately 0442 hours the AST South Central
DUI Enforcement Team responded to a motor vehicle collision in the
parking lot of the Mat-Su Resort.  Investigation found Suzann L.
Huggins, age 36, of Wasilla backed a 2006 GMC pickup into a parked 1999
Toyota Camry.  The Camry was unoccupied.  Huggins was found to be
operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.  Huggins was
arrested for DUI and remanded into the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where
she was held on a bail of $2,500.00 and a court approved third party. 
Huggins was not injured in the collision and both vehicles sustained
only minor damage.

Type: DV Assault 4

Text: On 10/5/08 at approximately 0110 hours, Troopers responded to a
residence in Palmer for the report of an assault that occurred on the
Glenn Highway near the Eklutna off-ramp.  Investigation revealed that
Wendel D. Lewis, age 24 of Palmer, assaulted a family member while
coming home from Anchorage. Lewis was arrested, transported and remanded
to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility without bail.

Type: Assault IV, Misconduct Involvng Weapons
Text: On 10-5-08 at approximately 0640 Alaska State Troopers responded
to a disturbance in an apartment above the Meadow Lakes Center.
Investigation revealed Terry A. Pershing, age 27 of Wasilla, had
assaulted a roommate was intoxicated and in possession of a firearm.
Pershing was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was
remanded on no bail.

Type: MVC-I

Text: On 10-5-08, at approximately 1022 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to Edgerton Park Road, near Little Otter Drive, Palmer, for a
reported single vehicle rollover.  Investigation revealed that a 2004
Silver Chevrolet pickup, operated by Holly E. Young, age 22, of Palmer,
was headed East on Edgerton Park Road, when it encountered ice on the
Little Susitna River bridge deck.  The vehicle spun out of control and
skidded down the embankment on the South side of Edgerton Park Road,
coming to rest on the roof of the vehicle.  Young reported wearing her
seat belt.  Medics responded to the scene and treated Young for minor
scratches to her face.   Young refused medical transportation.  The
vehicle is considered a total loss.

Type:  MVC-I

Text:  On 10/05/2008 at approximately 0736 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving four
vehicles on the Parks Highway at the Glenn Highway interchange.
Investigation revealed Catherine Morfe, age 51 of Wasilla, was driving
her 2003 Honda CR-V southbound on the Parks Highway when she lost
control of her vehicle on the icy road and ran into a guardrail.  David
Neuner, age 38 of Palmer, was driving his 1998 Ford Windstar southbound
behind Morfe and was attempting to slow down.  Joseph Filley was driving
his 1992 Chevrolet Blazer behind Neuner.  Filley attempted to slow down
and lost control of his vehicle causing him to run into the rear end of
Neuner’s vehicle.  John Sfakianos was driving his 1998 Toyota Tacoma
southbound on the parks when he observed the others lose control in
front of him.  Sfakianos attempted to slow down and lost control of his
vehicle causing it to run into a guardrail.  All occupants reported
wearing seatbelts.  Two occupants suffered minor injuries and were
transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center by EMS.  Each vehicle
sustained approximately $5,000.00 in damage.  No one was cited.

Type:  DV Assault IV

Text:  On 10/05/2008 at approximately 1000 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a report of a disturbance at the Point Mackenzie General
Store. Troopers contacted Kevin A. Bennett, age 20, of Anchorage, at
approximately mile 1.5 of Point Mackenzie Road. Investigation revealed
that Bennett was involved in a verbal altercation and then physically
assaulted his girlfriend.  Bennett was arrested for DV Assault IV and
remanded to Mat-Su Pre-Trial without bail.

Type: MVC-Injury

Text: On 10-5-08 at 0730 hours AST responded to a single vehicle MVC in
the southbound lane of the Glenn Hwy. at the Knik River Bridge.  26 year
old Jenny Registe of Wasilla was southbound when she lost control on icy
roads and struck the bridge rail.  She was wearing her seatbelt and was
transported to Matsu Regional Medical Center for pain associated with
the impact of the seatbelt.  Her vehicle received $4000.00 damage and
was towed from the scene.

Type: MVC-Injury

Text: On 10-5-08 at 0800 hours AST responded to a 3 vehicle MVC in the
northbound lane of the Glenn Hwy. at the Knik River Bridge.  54 year old
Wesley Rogers of Anchorage was northbound on the Glenn Hwy. when he lost
control of his 2001 Dodge pickup pulling an ATV trailer.  Rogers’
vehicle left the roadway and struck an ambulance that was stopped for a
previous collision, and then struck the 1985 Dodge pickup driven by 20
year old Sean Hickey of Anchorage that was involved in the previous MVC.
The ambulance was a 1996 Freightliner, which was totaled and valued at
$200,000.00.  Rogers’ vehicle was also totaled and valued at
approximately $16000.00.  Hichey’s vehicle received about $2000.00
damage.  Total damage is estimated at $218,000.00, and all 3 vehicles
were towed from the scene.  Rogers was wearing his seatbelt and was
transported to Matsu Regional Medical Center where he was treated and
released for minor injuries.  Rogers was issued a citation for Basic
Speed.

Text: On 10-05-08 at approximately 2025 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted a vehicle being driven on the Palmer-Wasilla Hwy in Palmer,
for a minor equipment violation.  Investigation revealed the driver,
Brian Keith Millard age 32 of Wasilla, was driving while his license was
suspended.   Millard was issued a summons for Driving While License
Suspended and was released on scene.  The vehicle was released to a
licensed driver.

Type: Operate Vehicle w/o Liability Insurance / MCA x2=09
Text: On 10/5/2008 at 0130 hrs, Fairbanks DUI Enforcement Troopers
stopped a red 1988 Ford Bronco II on Chena Pump Road for an equipment
violation.  Richard Jay Peterson, age 25 of Fairbanks, was identified as
the driver.  Investigation revealed Peterson was driving the car without
liability insurance.  He was issued traffic citations and a summons to
appear in court for Operating a Vehicle w/o Liability Insurance.  Tyler
Heindl and Amber Johnson, both age 20 of Fairbanks, were passengers.
Both Heindl and Johnson were found to have been consuming alcohol.  Both
were issued summons to appear in court for Minor Consuming Alcohol.

Text: On 10/5/2008 at 0251 hrs, Fairbanks DUI Enforcement Troopers
stopped a cream 1995 Cadillac car on University Avenue for an equipment
violation.  Darren Leonard Edwin, age 24 of Tanana, was identified as
the driver.  Investigation revealed Edwin’s Alaska driving privileges
were suspended.  He was arrested for Driving While License Suspended and
remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center.  Bail was set at $1000.

Text: On 10/4/2008 at 0001 hrs, Fairbanks DUI Enforcement Troopers
responded to the Fox scales for a reported intoxicated motorist.  Ryan
Edward O’Neill, age 31 of Fairbanks, was contacted at the scale house.
Investigation revealed that O’Neill had been driving his white 2004 Ford
Expedition while impaired by alcohol.  He arrested for DUI and remanded
at Fairbanks Correctional Center.  Bail was set at $1500.

traffic stop on a 1994 Nissan for an equipment violation. Investigation

Text:  On 10-3-08, at 1220 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a
complaint of a copper wire theft.  Investigation revealed between
9-15-08 and 9-27-08, someone had removed several spools of copper wire
from a residence on Leuthold.  Anyone having information are asked to
contact AST at 451-5100.  Investigation is ongoing.

Type: Reckless Driving

Text: On 10-4-08, at 1857 hours, Alaska State Troopers arrested Eric T.
James, age 36 of Anchorage, for Reckless Driving. The incident started
near mile 106 of the Seward Highway when troopers received two separate
citizen complaints about a 2005 orange Volkswagen beetle speeding and
passing in a no pass zone almost causing two separate head on
collisions. State Troopers located the vehicle near mile 93 Seward
Highway and stop the vehicle for speeding 103 mph in a posted 65 mph
zone in the safety corridor. James was arrested for Reckless Driving and
remanded into Anchorage Jail with bail set at $500.00 cash.

Type: DUI Felony

Text: On 10/3/08, at approximately 1726 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received the report of a REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately)
near mile 45.0 of the Sterling Highway.  The vehicle, a gray 1990 Toyota
Tercel, was contacted at a pullout near mile 37.0 of the Seward Highway.
The driver and only occupant, Steven Spratt, age 45 of Anchorage, was
contacted.  Investigation revealed Spratt was operating the vehicle
under the influence of alcohol and was impaired.  A records check
revealed Spratt had prior convictions making this arrest a felony.
Spratt was placed under arrest, transported to the Seward City Jail and
remanded.  Bail to be set at arraignment on 10/4/08.

Text: On 10-03-08, at 2354 hours, Sandra Marie Rimer, age 50 of Kenai,
was arrested by Alaska State Troopers for Misconduct Involving a
Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and Misconduct Involving a
Controlled Substance in the Sixth Degree.  Rimer was the passenger in a
vehicle stopped for speeding in Nikiski.  Rimer was remanded at Wildwood
Pretrial Facility without bail.

Case number: 08-83353
Type: Search and Rescue
Text: On 10/5/08, at 1348 hours, the Seward Police Dispatch Center
received a 911 call from Anthony Hruby, age 23 of Florida, who stated
that he and his sister Melinda Hruby, age 18 of Tok, were lost in steep
wooded terrain in the vicinity of Tonsina Creek south of Seward.  The
pair reported themselves as being lost, wet and cold.  A Trooper from
Girdwood and an Alaska Wildlife Trooper from Seward responded to the
area along with Helo #1 and the Seward Fire Department.  The pair were
initially located with the use of the Wildlife Trooper in Piper Super
Cub aircraft.  The Seward Fire vessel John Foster was staged off shore
in the general area of the lost hikers attempting to guide them to the
beach.  They eventually became trapped by steep terrain and were guided
down to the beach with the assistance of a rescuer from the Alaska
Mountain Rescue Group who was aboard Helo #1.  At approximately 2115
hours the pair was transported to Seward via Helo #1 where they were
released after declining medical attention.

Text: On 10-03-08, at 2354 hours, Jerry Lynn Pruitt, age 52 of Kenai,
was stopped by Alaska State Troopers for a traffic violation and was
subsequently arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in
the Sixth Degree.  Pruitt was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility
with a $250 bail.

year old Kenny Lake resident Tracy L. Brown near 10 mile of the Denali
Highway.  Investigation revealed that Brown had harvested two Caribou
and failed to validate his 2008 Federal Caribou Harvest ticket.  Brown
was cited into the Glennallen Court with a bail amount set at $150.00.

Type: Take other than Spike/Fork/50 inch/4 Brow Tine moose in GMU 13.

Text: On 09/17/08 Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Glennallen contacted 31
year old Eagle River resident Jeremy P. Franklin on Sonona River. 
Investigation revealed Franklin had harvested a bull moose with antlers
that measured 47 =BD inches.  The antlers were seized and all the edible
meat was donated to a local charity.  Franklin was cited into the
Glennallen Court with a court date of 10/28/09.

Text: On 09/16/08 Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Glennallen contacted 42
year old Anchorage resident Richard G. Hogue on the Little Tyone River.
Investigation revealed that Hogue had harvested a bull moose and failed
to leave evidence of sex naturally attached to one of the hind quarters.
Hogue was cited into the Glennallen Court with a bail amount set at
$150.00.
