Wisconsin - Serious Motorcycle Crash Town of Montrose

Madison, WI: On Saturday 10/04/08 at approximately 9:24 am deputies were dispatched to Judd Rd. 3/10 miles South of Crestwood Dr., in the Town of Montrose.
Several motorcycles had been traveling Southbound on Judd Rd. One of the cycles operated by Daniel R. Goplin, of Texas, pulled over to the side of the road. A second motorcycle operated by Jason A. Douglas, also of Texas started to slow.
A third motorcycle operated by Michael S. Roper of Oregon, WI., was following the second motorcycle and failed to slow and collided with the second motorcyle. A passenger on the third motorcycle, Ruth A. Roper of Oregon suffered a significant head injury as a result of the collision.
She was transported to a local hospital by Med-Flite helicopter. Michael Roper was transported by EMS to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Goplin and Douglas escaped injury. Douglas was the only rider wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office but it does not appear speed or alcohol contributed to the cause of the crash.
