Spokane, WA - Drunk Driver Hits Power Pole Causing Power Outage

On October 4th, 2008 at 10:39 PM, Spokane Police received a call of an injury collision at Division St/North River Dr. Dispatch further advised it was a vehicle versus a power pole.
Officers arrived on scene and contacted 26 year old Sajt Alijagic who admitted to being the driver. Officers detected an odor of intoxicants on Sajt’s breath and noted symptoms of intoxication. Officers placed Sajt under arrest for driving under the influence while operating a motor vehicle. Sajt was processed for DUI and booked into Spokane County Jail.
At the scene several power lines were down causing a power outage in some areas of Spokane. All of N/B Ruby/North River Dr has been closed off while Avista personnel work on repairing the damaged power lines. As of October 5th at 4:45 AM N/B Ruby/North River Dr was still closed.
