(October 2, 2008) At approximately 12:48 p.m., Thursday, October 2, 2008, Frisco Police and E.M.S. responded to the 3400 block of Main St., in response to a reported accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck.

Investigating officers were advised by witnesses that a blue 2007 Suzuki motorcycle had been traveling eastbound on Main Street and struck a 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup on the driver’s side.

The pickup had pulled out of a business parking lot on the south side of Main Street and was attempting to turn onto westbound Main Street. The Toyota was crossing the eastbound lanes at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle rider, Louis Benson Medcalf Jr., 23, of Frisco, TX was transported to Centennial Medical Center Frisco, where he was pronounced dead.  Frisco Police Investigators determined that Mr. Medcalf was wearing a helmet and believe, due to witness accounts, speed was a contributing factor.

The driver of the Toyota, Manuel Ortiz, 70, of Little Elm, TX, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene by Frisco E.M.S.

Eastbound Main Street at Teel Parkway was closed for a time, but is now open. The crash is still under investigation.
