Major Incidents Reported for September 26, 2008
 
“Gun Violence Reduction Sweep”

Officers from the Akron Police Department, The US Marshal’s Office Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, and agents from the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Division worked in a joint effort to reduce the violent crimes in the City of Akron last night. As a result of the operation the detail arrested 14 individuals on a total of 27 charges. Of those charges, 7 were felony arrests, 12 misdemeanor arrests, and 8 were warrant arrests.

The detail seized 4.9 grams of crack cocaine, 0.6 grams of Methamphetamines, and 10.3 grams of marijuana. The detail also served a search warrant in the 1300 block of Blackstone Ave in North Hill. Arrested were John Compton, 52, Angela McAnalley, 31, and Mark Gobby, 42. They were charged with various drug charges.
Felonious Assault/Shooting:

Shortly before 2:00 AM this morning, a party in the 500 block of Sumner St ends with shots being fired. A 21-year-old male was shot in the lower back during a confrontation with another male inside the party. The victim, Myguel O. Roberts, of Bedford, Ohio was transported to a local hospital for treatment where his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The suspect, Christopher L. Wilson, 19, of Cleveland, Ohio was taken into custody and charged with Felonious Assault and Discharging a Firearm in the city limits. Wilson was booked into the Summit County Jail where he is scheduled for an arraignment hearing in Akron Municipal Court on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 9:00 AM.

Police need your help!

Akron Police need the public’s help in locating Travis L. Elder, 18, with a last known address in the 800 block of Cole Ave. Elder is wanted in the Aggravated Murder and Aggravated Robbery of Joshua M. Robinson, 23, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Robinson was found with a fatal gunshot in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Virginia Ave around 8:00 PM, September 18, 2008. Robinson was killed during a robbery.

Elder’s accomplice, Marc Tyrone Kirksey Jr, 26, of Chalker St in Akron has already been arrested and taken into custody.

Travis L. Elder is a black male 5’6” tall and weighs about 140 lbs. Anyone with information on Elder’s whereabouts is asked to contact our department.

David A. Coffield, 19, Brown St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Receiving Stolen Property. David was found to be in possession of a stolen dirtbike.
