Thibodaux, LA - Child Struck By Vehicle

On Thursday, September 17, 2008 @ approximately 7:14 a.m., Officer(s) with the Thibodaux Police Department responded to a call of a child struck by a vehicle while awaiting a school bus.
Upon arrival of the Officer(s) the victim was identified as a 13-year old female who had sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident. The driver of the vehicle who struck the child stated that he was in the process of making a left turn onto Hickory Street from St. Mary Street when the child crossed in front of his vehicle.
Officer(s) spoke to several witnesses who stated that as soon as the driver started to make his turn the child ran out into the street. The driver of the vehicle was cited for Illegal window tint, and the 13-year old female was cited for Louisiana revised statue 32:213 “Crossing at other than cross walks”.
