From August 13 through September 3, 2008, the Massachusetts State Police participated in the “Drunk Driving: Over the Limit. Under Arrest” mobilization funded by the Executive Office of Public Safety & Security. This mobilization featured media and enforcement components which contributed to its success. There were numerous media spots that featured State Police personnel warning motorists of the dangers of drinking and driving. Also during this campaign, the Massachusetts State Police conducted six sobriety checkpoints in cooperation with local police agencies. The checkpoints were located in North Andover, West Bridgewater, Salisbury, Fitchburg, Springfield and Dorchester.The state police concluded this recent campaign with the following results:
