Waukegan, Illinois— Yesterday, Sheriff’s investigators completed more than a two-week investigation into 41 year-old Robert F. Sinsun of Beach Park following several child sexual assault allegations.

On August 18, 2008, the child’s mother came forward with allegations that Sinsun, her part-time live-in boyfriend had been abusing her 5 year-old daughter between May of 2007 and July of 2008. Investigators then spoke with a friend of the family who had obtained the information from the victim as well.

Sinsun was located at his place of employment by investigators last evening and brought to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning. Information obtained during the investigation and from Sinsun himself was shared with the Felony Review Division of the Lake County States Attorney’s Office.

“Our investigators will continue to work with the States Attorney’s Office to keep these child sexual abusers locked up,” said Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran. “There is nothing worse than an adult who rips the innocence of a child away by abusing them.”
Sinsun has been charged with one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, one count of Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse. If convicted of the three charges, Sinsun could face over 50 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Sinsun was brought before the Hon. Judge Christopher Stride this morning where his bond was set at $500, 000. Sinsun remains in the Lake County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 9 at 9:00 AM.
