Fugitive taken into custody on August 29, 2008
Derrick Jerome McCoy, 29, of Noah Ave in Akron turned himself in to detectives this afternoon. McCoy was wanted for three counts of Aggravated Robbery in the Toby’s Skill Games on Romig Rd.

Suspects wanted in recent homicide
Detectives signed warrants on two suspects, Lance I. Brown and Dale Flint Sr, involved in the death of Gary L. Bolar, 30, of Madison Ave in Akron. Bolar was shot while sitting in a car parked in the parking lot of Delia Market located at 964 Delia Ave on August 16, 2008 around noon.

Lance I. Brown, 31, of Manchester Rd is wanted for Aggravated Murder. He is a black male, about 5’08” tall and weighs about 140 lbs. Dale Flint, Sr, 35, of La Croix Ave is wanted for Complicity to Commit Aggravated Murder. He is a black male, about 5’ 2” tall and weighing about 140 lbs.

Anyone with any information on either suspect are urged to contact the Akron Police Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490.

Major Incidents Reported for August 29, 2008

“Gun Violence Reduction Sweep”

Officers from the Akron Police Department worked together with officers from the US Marshal’s Office Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Division, and members of the Adult Parole Authority conducted another “Gun Violence Reduction Sweep” in the City of Akron last night. As a result of the operation, 30 individuals were arrested on a total of 51 charges. Of those charges, 10 were felony arrests, 23 misdemeanor arrests, and 18 warrant arrests. Five traffic citations were also issued. The detail seized 0.5 grams of crack cocaine, 12.6 grams of marijuana, and 24 pills of Ecstasy.

The detail executed a search warrant at 923 Bloomfield Ave where eight individuals were arrested on various drug charges. The detail also conducted a bar check at the Fly located at 153 E. Cuyahoga Falls Ave. Eight individuals were arrested inside the bar on various warrant arrests.
Burglary Suspect Arrested:

After several reported burglaries in the Kelly Ave and E. Archwood Ave area, a detective attempted to stop a subject wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gloves early yesterday morning. After a brief foot chase and struggle with officers, Gary J. Mack, 33, of McKinley Ave in Akron, was taken into custody.

Mack confessed to five burglaries in the area. The burglaries were committed on Lindsay St, Welton Ave, and Georgia Ave. Mack also confessed to several other burglaries in Barberton, Ohio. Detectives from Barberton Police Department are following up on those break-ins.

Gary J. Mack was charged with five counts of Burglary, obstructing, and Resisting. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

Felony reports for August 29, 2008

John W. Alexander, 60, 1337 Sparhawk Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Domestic Violence and Disrupting Public Service. John became angry after a phone call and assaulted the victim. John also ripped the phone wires out of the wall.

Lamont Ray Brown, 28, 497 Sheck Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Obstructing Justice. Lamont was interviewed on 8-19-08 about the murder of Gary Bolar. He was then interview again about the same incident on 8-27-08 and stated he lied during the first interview.

Gary J. Mack, 33, 889 McKinley Ave, Akron, Ohio was charged with Obstructing Official Business, Resisting and Burglary. Gary was observed in the area where several burglaries have been committed. He ran from the officers and when he was apprehended he fought with the officers. One officers was injured as a result. Gary admitted to 5 different burglaries in the area.

Brent J. Amos, 21, 1213 Millhaven Dr., Copley, Ohio was charged with Burglary and Obstructing Official Business. Brent, Dale Tucker and Jarin Bryant forced their way into 658 Sumner St. and stole items that didn’t belong to them.

John Cramer, 24, 405 Stanton St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Felonious Assault. John assaulted the victim with a tire knocker that caused injuries to the victims head and a possible broken jaw. Matthew Luna held the victim down while John assaulted the victim.

Matthew S. Luna, 21, 695 Thayer St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Felonious Assault. Matthew got into a fight with the victim and then held the victim down while John Cramer assaulted the victim.

Darylynn D. Cosey, 20, 813 Palmetto Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Obstructing Justice and Making False Alarm. Darylynn gave false information concerning a domestic violence/felonious assault call she initiated. During the trail she admitted that she lied about the entire incident.

Lashawn D. Amos, 27, 862 Donald Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Robbery. Lashawn assaulted the security guard at Dave’s Supermarket while he was leaving the store with stolen items.

Shannon D. Karr, 28, 2269 14th St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Disrupting Public Service. Shannon and the victim got into a verbal confrontation because the victim was moving out and taking belongings. Shannon then started yelling and cussing at the victim. The victim tried to call the police but Shannon took the cell phone from the victim. The victim then got a wall phone and tried to call the police but Shannon grabbed the phone and forced the victim to hit herself with the phone.
