Brandon, Vermont – Police Pursuit Ends in Suicide for 22 Year-Old Man

During the early morning hours of 8/30/08 VSP Troopers and Brandon Police Department became involved in a pursuit of a BOL vehicle. The BOL vehicle fit the description of a vehicle seen early shooting at houses. After being seen by VSP and an attempt to contact the vehicle and its occupant, the vehicle, a green Jeep Grand Cherokee fled. VSP and Brandon Police pursued for approximately 25 minutes before the deployment of spikes was successful.
after all tires were deflated, Hall increased his speed and then stopped the vehicle in the traveled portion of the roadway. Hall put the vehicle in park and VSP troopers and Brandon Police approached. Before contact with Hall could be made, he placed a weapon to his head and pulled the trigger.
Rescue was called and Hall was transported to RRMC where he was pronounced dead.

On 08/30/2008 at 0358 hours Vermont State Police was notified of shots being fired in the area of Bristol Road and Mountain Road in the Town of Monkton. Fish and Game Wardens along with VSP troopers were called to investigate. Soon after, a resident at 2710 Bristol Road, Monkton reported that his home was struck by gun fire several times. The resident further reported that it came from a vehicle and the vehicle was headed south toward Bristol.
While Officers investigated the Bristol Road incident, several other calls came in reporting gun shots, in the area of 2245 Main Street, New Haven and 662 US Route 7, Waltham. Officers also responded to these areas to investigate. A resident at 2245 Main Street, New Haven reported that his home was struck by gun fire several times. The resident also reported that it came from a vehicle and the vehicle was headed east toward Bristol.
Troopers in the area continued to investigate and also searched for a suspect vehicle, identified as a Jeep Cherokee, possibly dark in color. Connected? Approximately 45 minutes later a trooper in the Salisbury area
spotted a dark colored Jeep Cherokee on US Route 7, matching the suspect vehicle description. When the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicles operator did not yield. A pursuit ensued which led into Rutland County where Brandon Officers, Rutland VSP Troopers, New Haven VSP Troopers and the
VSP Traffic Safety Team took part.
