DPS troopers and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office are seeking the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian early Sunday morning on US 175 east of Poyner in Henderson County. Authorities are offering cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the vehicle or the driver. Callers may remain anonymous.

Shane Alan Walker, 18, of Athens was walking westbound along US 175 near HCR 4404 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle and thrown into the eastbound lane where he then was struck by another vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle, a Jacksonville woman, stayed at the location trying to help Walker until authorities arrived.

The driver of the first vehicle left the scene. Investigators believe that the original vehicle that struck Walker may have been an 18-wheeler.
