Lincoln, NE - Speeding Stop Leads to Marijuana Seizure

(Lincoln, NE)- A Michigan man was lodged in the Lancaster County jail for possession of marijuana after being stopped for speeding on Interstate 80.
Shortly after midnight on Thursday, July 24, 2008, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper stopped an eastbound tan, 2008 Toyota Rav4 with Colorado plates for speeding at mm 406 on I-80 near the city of Lincoln, in Lancaster County, Nebraska. A Lincoln Police Department (LPD) canine indicated an odor of drugs coming from the rear of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 22.9 lbs. of marijuana. The single bale of marijuana was located in a black duffel bag in the cargo area of the vehicle.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 45-year-old David Delacruz of Holt, Michigan was lodged in the Lancaster County Jail on a charge of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver.
The Nebraska State Patrol was assisted in the seizure by the Lincoln Police Department.
