Text: On 7-22-2008 at approximately 1724 hours, Alaska State Troopers
conducted a traffic stop on a 1996 green Chevy Cavalier bearing AK
license plate DTB366 for not wearing a seatbelt on the Parks Hwy near
Vine Road in Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Amy Cooper age 19 of
Houston was in violation of her instructional permit for not having a
licensed adult in the vehicle. Cooper was issued a citation for no
seatbelt and a summons to appear in court for violation of instructional
permit.

Text: On 7-22-2008 at approximately 1305 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to report of a vehicle theft from a residence on Whitez II
Lane in Palmer. Investigation revealed someone had stolen a 2000 green
Chevy Tahoe bearing AK license plate EFL855 from their residence at
approximately 1300 hours. At approximately 1324 hours, Alaska State
Troopers located the vehicle on the corner of Whitez II Lane and Laurel
Lane in the ditch unoccupied. The vehicle sustained approximately
$7000.00 in damage and was released to the owner. Investigation is
continuing.

Text: On 7/22/2008, at approx. 0424 hours, Alaska State Troopers
recieved a report of a vehicle in the ditch at Mile 54.5 of the Glenn
Hwy. AST stopped the green 1995 Subaru Wagon near Mile 1 of Buffalo-Mine
Road. Investigation revealed that the driver, 19 yoa Sandra L. Karella
of Anchorage was operating the vehicle while impaired and while in
possession of illegal narcotics. Further Investigation revealed, 22 yoa
Jason E. Palmer of Anchorage had also operated the vehicle while
impaired and with a Suspended License. Karella and Palmer were arrested
and transported to MSPT. Karella was held on a total of $1,500.00 bail
and a court appointed third party. Palmer was held on a total of $2,500
bail and a court appointed third party.

Text: On 07/23/08 at 0749 hours, Todd Richardson, age 38 of Talkeetna,
reported the theft of copper wire from an new ALMR Radio tower that is
being constructed on the property of the Chulitna DOT Station at mile
121 of the Parks Highway near Chulitna. Investigation revealed that
sometime between 1600 hours, on 07/22/08 and 0730 hours, on 07/23/08
unknown individuals stole a spool of copper wire valued at approximately
$6,000. If anyone has information regarding this theft please contact
the MatSu Crimestoppers at 745-3333. Investigation is ongoing.

Text: On 7-23-08, at approximately 0910 hours, Alaska State Troopers
were notified by Robert B. Fisher, age 78, of Big Lake, that some
construction vehicles were damaged at a gravel pit on the Parks Highway.
Investigation revealed that sometime between the evening of 7-22-08 and
early morning on 7-23-08, someone started an excavator and swung the
boom into a parked grader, causing approximately $10,000 worth of damage
to the grader. The excavator was not damaged. The case is under

Text: On 07/23/2008, at approximately 1149 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of an expected death at 4070 Birch Cove Drive in
Wasilla. Investigation revealed that Anna Bates, age 79, of Wasilla,
passed away at 1130 hours this morning due to natural causes. Comfort
One paperwork was on file. The State Medical Examiner’s Office and Life
Alaska were notified. No foul play is suspected and next of kin has
been notified.

Text: On 7/23/08 at approximately 1533 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a motor vehicle collision near Palmer Wasilla Highway and
Seward Meridian Parkway. Investigation revealed Lana Henley, age 56 of
Palmer, was unable to stop in her silver 1999 Chevrolet truck and
collided with the rear end of Deborah Dietrich. Dietrich’s vehicle, a
red 2008 Chevrolet Equinox, then slid forward and collided with the back
of Elizabeth Meek’s vehicle, a red 1999 Mazda car. Dietrich was injured
but released at the seen. Meek was injured and transported to MatSu
regional. All parties reported wearing their seatbelts. Dietrich’s
vehicle suffered approximately $5000.00 in damage, Henley’s vehicle
suffered approximately $2500.00 in damage, and Meek’s vehicle was
damaged approximately $1000.00. Henley was issued a citation.

Text: On 7/22/08, at 1700 hours, State Troopers in Kotzebue received a
report of a motor vehicle crash involving two 4-wheelers in the village
of Noorvik. State Troopers learned that Hendy Ballot Sr., 61 yoa, of
Noorvik was traveling towards the tank farm when he approached an
intersection and was struck by another 4-wheeler that was operated by a
14 year old female with a juvenile passenger. Ballot was thrown from
his 4-wheeler and sustained minor injuries, but was later released from
the clinic. The 14 year old driver of the other 4-wheeler sustained
minor head injury and was kept for observations. The passenger was not
injured and was eventually releases from the Noorvik clinic. State
Troopers initial investigation revealed that the juvenile female may
have been speeding and did not slow down or stop prior to entering the
intersection. State Troopers are continuing to investigate the matter.
Alcohol was not involved with this incident.

Text: On 7/22/08 at 1601 hours, Eek’s VPSO reported that during an
investigation of minors consuming alcohol, he discovered that one of the
minors, a 17 year old male juvenile of Eek, had manufactured homebrew in
Eek. 2 quarts of homebrew was seized and is being forwarded to the
Department of Public Safety Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory for
analysis. Eek is a community that has voted to ban the manufacturing of
alcohol. The investigation is continuing.

Text: On 7/22/08, VPSO Leonard Raymond in Stebbins received a report of
an assault. During his investigation it was determined that Albert
Bogeyaktuk Jr., age 22, Dana Henry, age 23 and Louis Pete, age 24 all of
Stebbins were consuming alcohol in violation of their probation. It was
confirmed that Pete had assaulted an adult female. All were arrested
for Probation Violations and Pete was also charged with Assault in the
Fourth Degree. The female was treated and released from the Stebbins
Clinic. They were all transported to Nome for arraignment.

On 7/22/08 at approximately 2138 hours the Alaska State Troopers
received a report from Anvil Mountain Correctional Center that a group
of inmates attempted to shower two other inmates with a human feces and
urine filled bag. Ultimately the group ended up being showered with
their own feces and urine. Oliver Lane, 21 years of age of Kotzebue was
charged with harassment I, attempted harassment I and disorderly
conduct. Charges on two other inmates are pending.

Type: Assault 2 - D.V., Assault 3 - D.V., Assault 4 - D.V., MCA
Text: On 7/23/08, State Troopers in Kotzebue received a report of a
domestic violence assault in the village of Selawik. Selawik VPO’s said
they were contacted in the early morning and learned that a 14 year old
female had been assaulted by her 17 year old boyfriend. State Troopers
contacted witnesses and the victim and learned the 17 year old male was
intoxicated and contacted the 14 year old juvenile at a different
residence where he proceeded to physically assault the female. The
assault continued across the communities boardwalk where he began to
strangle the victim and force her head against metal support beams of
several bridges located in the community. The vitims friends watched
and pleaded for the 17 year old to stop as did the 17 year olds father,
but no one was able to phsyically restrain the juvenile male. Local
VPO’s arrived on scene and separated the couple until State Troopers
arrival. State Troopers responded to the village and were unable to
locate the 17 year old male with the assistance of the Village Police
Officers. An arrest warrant was later requested from the Kotzebue
court at the request of the Department of Juvenile Justice in Nome, AK.
The victim was seen at the Selawik Clinic and later released.

Text: On 07/23/08 at approximately 0538 hours, Alan Baker reported that
his mother had died. Alan’s residence is located at mile 1405 of the
Alaska Highway just outside of Delta Junction. Vivian R. Baker, age 85,
of Pennsylvania, was asleep in her bed when she passed away. Vivian
came to Alaska on 07/02/08 to visit her son and daughter-in-law and was
expected to travel back home in several days. There are no signs of
foul play. The State Medical Examiner was contacted and the body was
released to the family.

Text: On 7-22-08 at approximately 1721 hours, AST responded to a report
of a motor vehicle crash located at 5.9 mile Nistler Road. No injuries
were reported. AST investigation determined Carol F. Patterson 51, of
Delta Junction was eastbound driving a 1999 Subaru when she lost control
of her vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway hitting a driveway
embankment and came to rest in a stand of trees. Investigation
determined Patterson was under the influence of alcohol at the time of
the crash. Patterson was arrested for DUI and transported to the Delta
Court. Patterson refused to provide a sample of breath to the
Datamaster and was additionally charged. Damage to her vehicle was
estimated at $4000.00.

Text: On 07-23-08, Troopers concluded their investigation into the
07-06-08 damage of private property at the Denali Summit Gift Shop near

wooden bear, causing it to fall and break off part of the jaw. Alcohol

Text: On 7-22-08, at approximately 1735 hours, a Trooper from Girdwood
initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding near mile 98 of the
Seward Highway, which is within the safety corridor. Investigation
revealed the driver of the vehicle, Casandra K. Harris, age 34 of
Seward, was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
Harris was issued a summons to appear in court on the charge of DWLS and
a traffic citation for speeding. The vehicle was released to a licensed
driver at the scene.

Type: Take Cow Moose Closed Area/ Unlawful Possession and Transportation
of Game
Text: On 7-22-08, 29 year old Charlie Gusty of Lime Village was cited
for Taking a cow moose in an area closed to moose hunting, and 29 year
old Jason R. Bobby of Stony River was charged with unlawful possession
and transportation of game.
The charges were the result of an investigation which showed that Gusty
had shot a cow moose near Stony River on 2-4-08, and that he and Bobby
had butchered the moose and hauled it back to the village. The moose was
killed in a portion of Game Management Unit 19A which currently has no
open season for the taking of moose. The men will be arraigned on
7-30-08 through the Aniak District Court.

set at $130 and the fish were seized.
-Fail to Record Personal Use Salmon - Jamelyn P. Awana, 46 yoa of
Anchorage. Bail is set at $110.
-At 2312 hours, Therrol C. Andrews, 50 yoa of Homer, was cited for P/U
Fishing after hours and without a 2008 personal use permit. Bail for
the first offense was set at $170 and the second charge is set for
arraignment on August 8th in Kenai Court.

Troopers while on patrol observed Hal Eugene Norman, age 39, of Santa

fishing license. Norman was issued a citation for sport fishing with
out a valid Alaska sport fish license. Arraignment is scheduled for

Text: On 7-23-08, Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Kodiak responded to a
single vehicle rollover accident involving a 1999 Red Ford Ranger,
Alaska plate ETH-355, at mile 19.4 Chiniak Hwy. The driver of the
vehicle was identified as Anton Gonopolskiy age 23 of Kodiak. Anton
Gonopolskiy was cited for Driver to excerise due care and failure to
wear a seatbelt. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at over $2500.00
dollars.

Text: On 7-22-08 at 1250 hours a WAANT investigator contacted Juan C.
Monroy, age 35 of Yuma, Arizona as he prepared to travel to Manokotak on
a local air carrier. As a result of the contact, the investigator seized
three 1.75 liter bottles of whiskey and six 18 packs of beer. Monroy
