Text: On 7/20/2008 at 1713 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a
report that the Naukati ambulance had been stolen from the mud bogg
races in Naukati by an unknown person(s). The ambulance was located
approximately one hour later with minor damage. Anyone with information
is urged to contact the Alaska State Troopers in Klawock, 755-2918.

Text: On 7/20/2008 at 1810 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a
report that the concession stand at the Naukati mud bogs had been broken
into, with numerous items taken. A suspect has been identified and the
investigation continues.

Text: On 7/20/2008 at 1635 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a
report that a portable mill had been pushed over just outside of
Naukati. Damage to the portable saw mill is estimated at $250.00.

Type: Arrest Warrant

Text: On 7-19-2008 at approximately 1933 hours, AST served a Ketchikan
District Court arrest warrant on 21 year old Justin Dewitt of Ketchikan.
The warrant stemmed from original charges of Disorderly Conduct and MCA
(Habitual).  Dewitt was arrested at his home and remanded at the
Ketchikan Correctional Center without incident.

Type: Assault 4th degree

Text: on 7-20-2008 at approximately 2032 hours Ketchikan AST received a
report from the Ketchikan Regional Youth Facility that one resident had
assaulted another. Subsequent investigation revealed that a 16 yr old
female had assaulted a 13 yr old female. A report will be forwarded to
the Juvenile Probation Office.

Type: Theft II

Text: On 7-22-08, AST Juneau responded to the M/V INFINITY, a Celebrity
Cruise Lines ship, in regards to a report of theft. Investigation found
that a passenger had lost his watch valued at about $800 and reported it
to ship’s security. During their investigation they located a cleaner
who had “forgotten” to turn the watch in. They also discovered two other
watches of question in his cabin. The theft occurred in Canadian waters
and Juneau was their first port of call. The victim’s watch was returned
and ship’s security is proceeding with internal disciplinary actions.
U.S. Borders and Customs were notified. No charges will be filed by
Alaska in this case.

Text: On 7-21-08 at 2210 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to a
residence located at 61 mile Parks Highway to serve an arrest warrant on
Christina Connella (25 YOA of Willow).  Connella attempted to flee the
residence on foot but was caught with the assistance of K-9 Roelle
without an incident.  Connella was arrested and booked at the Mat Su Pre
Trial Facility on a bail of $5,000.00 cash plus a court approved third
party.

Text: On 7/21/08 at approximately 2105 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted Fernando E. Rodriguez, age 50, on Wasilla-Fishhook Road near
Seldon Drive in Wasilla for an equipment violation.  Investigation
revealed that Rodriguez was driving while his license was suspended.
Rodriguez was issued a summons to appear in court for driving while
license suspended, issued a citation for failure to show proof of
insurance and released.  The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Text: On 7-22-08, at 3339 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted John W.
Morris, age 34, of Chugiak near the intersection of Seward Meridian
Parkway and Country Field Drive, Wasilla during a traffic stop for a
moving violation.  Investigation revealed that Morris was operating the
vehicle while his license was suspended for the original charge of
failure to maintain insurance.  Morris was issued a summons to appear in
court for Driving While License Suspended.  Morris was also issued a
citation for having no insurance.

Type:  Drove While License Revoked, Minor Operating After Consuming
Alcohol, and Minor Consuming Alcohol
Text:  On 7/21/2008, approx. 2358 hours, Alaska State Troopers stopped a
blue 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass sedan near mile 47 of the Parks Highway in
Wasilla for an equipment violation.  (This section of the highway is in
the Highway Safety Corridor.)  Investigation revealed that 19 yoa Perrin
J. Pollard of Palmer was driving the vehicle while his drivers license
is revoked and driving after consuming alcoholic beverage under the age
of 21.  Two passengers in the vehicle, ages 16 and 17, were also
determined to have been consuming alcoholic beverage.  Pollard was
arrested and transported to MSPT where he was held on a total of
$2,000.00 bail for DWLR, MOCA, and MCA while the two passengers were
each issued a summons for MCA and released to parents at the scene.

Text: On 07/22/08 at approximately 1740 hrs, AST contacted Michael G.
Simpson (age 43) of Wasilla for a report of a disturbance near the mile
49 cabins, Wasilla. Investigation revealed Simpson had an outstanding
warrant for failing to appear in court for a DUI charge. Simpson was
arrested and remanded at Mat-Su Pretrial where bail was set at $1,000.

Type:  Third Degree Assault, Fourth Degree Assault, Domestic Violence
Text:  On 7-18-08 AST received a 911 call from a 44 year old male
resident of Kodiak who reported his ex wife was inside his residence
having a temper tantrum.  The man told the dispatcher his ex wife had a
knife and was hitting him.  AST responded and arrested the assailant, a
42 year old female resident of Kodiak.  The man said he was not injured.
The female was charged with 3rd Degree Assault and 4th Degree Assault.
She was remanded to the Kodiak Jail and held without bail.

Type:  Driving without a valid license

Text:  On 7-18-08 at approximately 1900 hours AST stopped a 2002 Toyota
van on Selief Lane for traveling 38 mph in a 20 mph zone.  The driver
was identified as 19 year old David Castro Garcia of Kodiak.  Garcia
told the trooper he didn’t have a license because he never applied for
one.  Garcia was issued a Summons charging him with Driving without a
Valid License, and a citation for speeding.  Garcia was released at the
scene and the vehicle was turned over to the registered owner who had a
valid license.

Type: Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor (x2)

Text: On 7/22/08, State Troopers in Kotzebue received a report of an
incident that occurred over the weekend where an adult male provided
alcohol to two underage girls in the village of Noorvik.  State Troopers
learned that the incident was reported to the Noorvik VPO’s, but VPO’s
had not contacted State Troopers about the incident.  State Troopers are
continuing to investigate the matter.

Type: Sentencing for Murder II

Text: On 7-22-08, Darren Peterson 20 yoa of Moutain Village was
sentenced to 45 years with 26 years suspended and 19 years to serve.  He
will also be placed on probation for 10 years after his release.
Peterson was sentenced in the Bethel Superior Court for the death of his
uncle on 7-19-07 in Mountain Village.

Text: On 7-18-08 at 0926 hours, Charles Darby 23 yoa of Circle was
arrested in Circle on $1000 Fail to Appear Warrant for a Misconduct
Involving in a Weapon case. Darby was transported to Fairbanks
Correctional Center.

Type: DUI, Reckless Endangerment  

Text: On 7/20/08 at 2200 hrs. Alaska State Troopers responded to 46 mile
Elliot Hwy after a motorist reported an occupied Ford Taurus in the
ditch.  AST found Johnny J. Dillinger, 43 yoa of Fairbanks, slumped over
in the driver’s seat of the car.  There were approximately 200′ of skid
and yaw marks on the highway left by Dillinger’s car.  Investigation
determined that Dillinger was an intoxicated passenger in the car driven
by a 20 yoa female.  Dillinger attempted to gain control of the car by
grabbing the steering wheel and the driver’s arms while she was driving.
  The car careened across the lanes of traffic several times as the
woman tried to maintain control of the car.  AST arrested Dillinger for
DUI and Reckless Endangerment.  He was transported to Fairbanks
Correctional Center.

Text: On 7/20/08 at approximately 1700 hours Bradley McGinty, age 30 of
Kaltag was arrested on 3 counts of Assault IV and probation violations

Type: Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Sixth Degree
Text: On 07-22-08 at 1820 hours, Troopers contacted Arthur GIST, 25 of
Denali, near mile 248 of the Parks Highway for a traffic infraction. 
Investigation revealed that GIST had consumed marijuana prior to
driving, and he was in possession of a small amount of smoked marijuana.
 GIST was issued a summons for Misconduct Involving a Controlled
Substance in the Sixth Degree, and a citation for the traffic
infraction.  Investigation complete.

Type: MVC-I

Text: On 07/20/08 at approximately 1410 Hrs, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles near mile
101 of the Sterling Highway. Investigation revealed that a 1991
Chevrolet truck driven by Robert C. Dedrick Jr, age 21, of Kenai was
stopped waiting to turn left off of the Sterling Highway heading south
bound near mile 101 when a 2000 Subaru passenger car driven by Tyler J.
Torrence, age 21, of Homer, struck the Chevrolet truck from behind. No
passengers were in either of the vehicles. Both drivers were wearing
seatbelts at the time of the collision and both were transported to the
Soldotna Hospital with injuries by members of Soldotna CES. Tyler
Torrence was issued a citation for: Exercise Due Care to Avoid a
Collision.

Text: On 7/22/08 at 0121 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a
motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of
Kalifornski Beach Rd. and Poppy Lane in Soldotna.  Investigation
revealed a 99 Crown Victoria operated by Daniel Joseph Dobson, 23 of
Kenai, rear ended a 90 Toyota 4 Runner driven by Robert Smithwick, 39 of
Kenai, who was stopped at the light.  Both drivers utilized their
seatbelt and reported no injuries.  Airbags in the Crown Victoria
deployed.  The Crown Victoria sustained approximately $4000 damage and
the Toyota was a total loss.  Dobson was cited for negligent driving.

Text:  On 07/20/08, at approximately 1400 hours, Vance Dale reported
theft and damage to Halliburton property near mile 85 of the Sterling
Hwy.  Investigation has revealed that person(s) unknown had cut several
hundred feet of electrical cable from the machinery being stored behind
their office with in the last week.  Dale estimated the replacement and
repair costs to be approximately $100000.  Investigation is continuing.

Text: On 07-21-08, at approximately 2010 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a disturbance at mile one, space one on Old Nash Road.
Investigation revealed that Martha Kaiakokonok, age 46 of Seward had an
argument with her husband and then drove to a friend’s house nearby.
Kaiakokonok told responding Troopers she had consumed alcohol and had
driven after consuming alcohol.  Kaiakokonok failed SFST’s and was
arrested for DUI.  Further investigation revealed that the disturbance
was a verbal argument.  She was lodged in the Seward City Jail.  Bail
was set at $500.00.

Type: Big Game Guide Fail to be Present in Field

Text: On 7-20-08, 40 year old Edward Zernia of Eagle River was charged
with one count of failure to be present in the field with his hunting
client. The charge was the rsult of an investigation by Mcgrath AWT
Troopers which shows that during a Dall Sheep hunt in August of 2007,
Zernia failed to be present in the field at any time during the hunt
with an Assistant Guide, and a sheep hunting client, who he had
contracted to guide. Arraignment is scheduled in Aniak District Court on
7-23-08.

Text: On 07/13/08 at 1627 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers boarded the
commercial fishing vessel the Tara Lea in Taku Harbor near Juneau as it
was fishing in a Gill-net fishery. An investigation by Troopers revealed
a crew-member onboard the boat was unlicensed. Citations were issued to
Kevin W. Gullufsen, 19 yoa of Juneau, for failing to obtain a
crew-members license, and to Chad Norman Walling, 37 yoa of Juneau, for
employing an unlicensed crew-member.

Text: On 07/13/08 at 2242 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers issued a
summons to appear in court to William Darrell Bousley, 23 yoa of
Ketchikan, for commercially fishing a gill-net in excess of 200 fathoms
in length. An investigation by troopers revealed that Bousley was
commercially fishing a gill-net in Stephens passage at Limestone cove,
near Juneau that was over 255 fathoms in length. Bousley’s net was
seized by troopers along with the 3259 pounds of fish Bousley caught
with the illegal net.
