Oregon - OSP Traffic Stop Leads to 14 lbs. of Marijuana, Four Arrests near Ashland

An Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stop Tuesday morning led to the arrest of four people and seizure of approximately 14 pounds of Marijuana on Interstate 5 near Ashland.
On July 21, 2008 at approximately 8:15 a.m. OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office stopped a 2003 Dodge Neon with Oregon license plates for a traffic violation on Interstate 5 near milepost 11. The two occupants were identified as driver ESTELLA LOPEZ, age 48, and passenger JAIME HERNANDEZ, age 37, both from Fort Bragg, California. Subsequent investigation led to troopers finding approximately 14 pounds of Marijuana in the car with an estimated value of $60,000.
Additional information led to the stop of an associated vehicle occupied by driver CESAR HERNANDEZ ORNELAS, age 20, from Beaverton, Oregon, and passenger JAIME HERNANDEZ RICO, age 33, from Burlington, Washington.
Troopers arrested and lodged three of the four people in Jackson County Jail:
ESTELLA LOPEZ arrested for Unlawful Possession and Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana
CESAR HERNANDEZ ORNELAS arrested for Unlawful Manufacturing, Possession, and Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana
JAIME HERNANDEZ RICO arrested for Unlawful Manufacturing, Possession, and Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana
The fourth person, JAIME HERNANDEZ, was cited and released for Unlawful Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana.
The investigation is continuing and no further information is being released.
