Idaho - Early Morning Crash Results in Two Fatalities

On Saturday, July 19, 2008, at approximately 7:52 a.m., Idaho State Police responded to a one vehicle roll-over eastbound on Interstate 84 at the 201 mile marker, near the Jerome County / Minidoka County line.    Craig Walther, 57, from Puyallup,WA, was driving a Honda Odyssey eastbound on Interstate 84 near the Jerome/Minidoka County line when he fell asleep. 

The vehicle drifted off the left side of the road.  Walther overcorrected and the vehicle rolled several times coming to rest in the median.  Craig Walther and Allison Vangieson, 28, from St. Clair Shores, Michigan, died at the scene. Vangieson was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.  Another passenger, Katherine Walther, 54, from Puyallup,WA, and three juvenile children were transported to Minidoka Memorial Hospital by ground ambulance.

Katherine Walther and the three juvenile children were all treated and released with unknown injuries. Both Craig and Katherine Walther were wearing seatbelts, and the three juveniles were all in child safety seats.  The crash is being investigated by Trooper L. Nye and Sgt. K. Oliver.
