On July 1, 2008 at about 7:33 am, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a two vehicle fatality crash in Union Parish. The crash occurred on LA 15 at the intersection with LA 550. A 1992 Honda Civic was traveling east on LA 550 and came to a stop at a stop sign at LA 15. The driver of the Honda then pulled out into the road and failed to yield to a northbound 2002 Chevrolet truck. The truck struck the Honda on the passenger side and pushed it off the road where it rolled over.
The driver of the Honda, identified as 63 year old Carolyn J. Morris from Spearsville, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries she sustained in the crash. Morris was wearing her seat belt.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 56 year old Ervin Redden, was also wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the crash.
Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending. No citations were issued in this crash.
In 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated thirty-one (31) fatal crashes resulting in thirty-two (32) deaths.
