Major Incident Reported for June 30, 2008

Felonious Assault:

Around 3:00 this afternoon, officers responding to a shooting in the 800 block of Hammel St. The victim, a 22-year-old male was found lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Akron City Hospital, where his condition is unknown. The investigation is in the preliminary stages at this time.

According to a witness, there was a verbal altercation between the victim and the suspect. The suspect fired a shot at the victim then fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is a black male in his 30’s. He was between 5’10” – 5’11” tall and weighed between 210 and 220 lbs. He was wearing all black clothing. Anyone with information is asked to contact our department.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.

Felonious Assault

About 1:30 Sunday morning, an altercation in the parking lot of Lynn’s Bar located at 344 E. Cuyahoga Falls Ave leaves a 29–year–old male hospitalized. The victim reported that he was stabbed multiple times during an altercation with another male. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

A Warrant for Felonious Assault has been issued for Edward D. Gulley, 27, of Seward Ave in Akron. Gulley is a black male. He is 5’09” tall and weighs about 175 lbs. Anyone with information on Gulley’s whereabouts is asked to contact our department.

Aggravated Robbery

Shortly after 9:30 on Sunday evening, the Circle K Gas Station located at 1608 East Avenue was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect entered the gas station armed with a silver handgun and demanded money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect was a black male. He was between 5’7” to 5’9” tall and weighed between 130 – 140 lbs. He was wearing a black mask, and all black clothing. Anyone with information is asked to contact our department.

Felonious Assault

Akron Police issue warrants in a boyfriend/girlfriend fight that occurred shortly after 10:00 Sunday evening. Warrants for Aggravated Robbery and Felonious Assault have been issued for Michael J. White, 38, of Ellsworth Drive in Akron.

A 33-year-old female victim reported that White repeatedly punched her in the face and upper body, choked her, and slammed her head into the toilet. White then took $60.00 from the victim’s purse before leaving her apartment. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Michael J. White is a white male, 5’09” tall, and weighs about 175 lbs. He has strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, and a scruffy beard. Anyone with information is asked to contact our department.

Burglary reports for the weekend events
Cleophus Thompson Jr., 19, 877 Bertha Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Forgery and Drug Abuse Crack. Cleophus was stopped at S. Arlington St. and Maywood Ave. for a traffic stop. Cleophus was found to be driving on a suspended license and drugs were found inside the vehicle.

Eugene W. Blackwood III, 47, 1603 Delba St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Rape and Kidnapping. Eugene put a white t-shirt around the victims throat and then went to an unknown location and sexually assaulted the victim.

Eugene J. Allen, 48, 1058 Schumacher Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Receiving Stolen Property Auto. Eugene was a passenger in a stolen vehicle stopped at 1055 East Ave. for a traffic stop.

Eric F. Edwards, 51, 616 W. Thornton St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Receiving Stolen Property Auto, Possession of Crack and Tampering with Evidence. Eric was the driver of a stolen vehicle stopped at 1055 East Ave. for a traffic stop. Eric attempted to destroy and hide drugs in the back of the vehicle.

Carolyn M. Cash, 50, 839 Sumner St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Domestic Violence. Carolyn has a prior conviction for domestic violence from 1-16-03.

Raymond D. Rose Jr., 24, 2223 N. Messner Rd., Akron, Ohio was charged with Felonious Assault and Domestic Violence. Raymond hit the victim in the face knocking out two front teeth.

Tammy Landers, 46, 882 Ute St., Akron, Ohio was charged with Theft. Tammy stolen cash from the cash register in the amount of $1,160.00 while working for JC Penney.

Alexander J. Cocuzza, 25, 231 Pauline Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Burglary. Alexander entered 612 Cuyahoga St. and attempted to steal the victims 40″ tv. Other items were also found wrapped in a blanket sitting next to the door.

Michael Johnson, 24, was charged with Shooting into an Occupied Structure. Michael was identified as being one of two suspect responsible for shooting into 940 Haynes St.

Anthony D. Felding Jr., 19, was charged with Abduction and Domestic Violence. Anthony held the victim in a bedroom for approximately an hour. During this time he hit, slapped, punched and struck the victim with a plastic belt.

Michael J. Love, 24, 349 Talbot Ave., Akron, Ohio was charged with Receiving Stolen Property Auto. Michael was stopped at 971 Owen St. driving a stolen vehicle.

Clinton J. Longmire Jr., 49, 545 E. Buchtel Ave. #2, Akron, Ohio was charged with Domestic Violence and Domestic Violence Menacing. Clinton has a prior conviction for domestic violence from 3-12-99.
