Idaho DUI – Trooper Nearly Struck by Unlicensed Driver

On 05-25-08 at approximately 1651 hours Trooper Eric Howley was making a patrol of the Emerald Lake State Park in Dorset in his cruiser when he was almost struck by 23 year old Michael Adhern of Tyngsborough, MA who was operating a black 2006 Toyota Tacoma pick-up through the park at a high rate of speed.
Trooper Howley was negotiating a sharp turn on Emerald Lake Drive just west of the front gate when the Toyota Tacoma operated by Adhern came around the corner in Trooper Howley’s lane of travel at a high rate of speed. Trooper Howley turned his cruiser around and stopped the vehicle. Upon contact Adhern demonstrated indicators of DUI. Adhern was subequently arrested for DUI and transported to the Shaftsbury Barracks for processing. A check revealed that Adhern’s drivers license was suspended in Massachusetts.
The Court issued Adhern a $500.00 bond, and he was transported to the Marble Valley Correctional Center. In addition to the DUI charge, Adhern was issued tickets for operating without a license and for driving on the wrong side of the roadway.
