Text: On 5/17/2008 at 1528 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to
a single motor vehicle crash at approximately 22.5 mile Sandy Beach Rd
in Thorne Bay. Investigation reveled that Robert Ingman, 64 of Thorne
Bay was backing up his 1987 Toyota, when he drove off the roadway
causing the vehicle to roll off a steep embankment onto it’s top. Ingman
was uninjured and was wearing his seat belt. The vehicle is a total
loss.

Type: Search and Rescue

Text: On 5/17/2008 at approximately 1945 hours, AST Dispatch received a
report of five lost hikers on the Dear Mountain Trail near Ketchikan.
Investigation revealed the five out of town hikers became lost when they
had taken what they thought to be a short cut off the main trail.  The
Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad (KVRS) responded to the area and
located all five individuals shortly after midnight on 5/18/2008.  All
of the individuals were safely rescued off the mountain by KVRS staff at
0216 hours.

Type: DV Burglary I, DV Assault IV X2, and DV Criminal Mischief IV

Text: On 5/17/2008 at 1717 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to
Hydaburg after receiving a report that Gwendolyn A. Peratrovich, age 20
of Hydaburg was intoxicated and just assaulted two family members and
broke in the front door to the residence. Peratrovich left the residence
prior to AST’s arrival and could not be located. One count of DV
Burglary I, two counts of DV Assault IV, and one count of DV Criminal
Mischief IV will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office on
Peratrovich for assaulting two family members and causing damage to the
residence.

Text: On 5/18/08, at 1000 hours, Ernest Joseph, age 38 of Juneau was
arrested on an outstanding warrant from the state of Colorado.  Joseph
had failed to appear in court on the original charge of felony property
crimes.  Joseph was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on no
bail.

Type: Vehicle Theft I, Theft II, Criminal Mischief III,

Text: On 5/17/2008 at 0740 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a
report that a grey 1989 Chevrolet Suburban had been stolen from the
Coffman Cove dock area. At about 1330 hours the stolen vehicle was
recovered in Thorne Bay along with a missing handgun from the vehicle.
Two suspects were identified  in the theft of the vehicle as James R.
Peterson, 18 of Wrangell and a 17 yoa juvenile in taking the vehicle and
the handgun. Charges will be filed with the Districts Attorney’s Office
on one count of Vehicle Theft I, Theft II, and Criminal Mischief III on
both Peterson and the juvenile.

Text: On 5-17-08 at 2220 hours, the Alaska State Troopers stopped a 1987
Chevy pickup for an equipment violation on the Parks Highway near Church
Rd.  The driver was identified as Cheyenne Blazka (16 YOA of Wasilla).
Investigation revealed that Blazka was driving in violation of her
instructional permit.  Blazka was issued a summons and released to her
parent on scene.

Text: On 5/18/08, at approximately 0100 hours, AST responded to the
Matsu Regional Hospital after receiving a report of a minor ATV
collision that occurred in the Jim Creek area.  Once there, AST
contacted Marriah L. Taylor, age 19; and Camille N. Kevan, age 18; both
of Wasilla.  Taylor was issued a summons for Minor Consuming Alcohol,
and Minor Operating After Consuming Alcohol.  Kevan was issued a summons
for Minor Consuming.  Both were released at the scene.

Text:   On 5/18/08 at approximately 0122 hours, the AST South Central
DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle at Plumley Rd. and the Old Glenn
Hwy. in Palmer for a moving violation.  The driver, identified as
Deterrieo T. Berton, age 19, of Palmer was found to be operating the
vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.  Berton was issued a summons

Text:   On 5/18/08 at approximately 0316 hours, the AST South Central
DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle on the Old Glenn Hwy. at Smith
Rd. in Palmer for a moving violation.  The driver, identified as Buffie
J. Reamer, age 24, of Palmer, was found to be operating the vehicle
while under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended
driver’s license.  Reamer was arrested for DUI and Driving While License
Suspended and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was
held on a $2,000.00 bail.

Text: On 5-18-08 at approximately 0415 hours, Bruce Privett, age

40 of Wasilla reported a vehicle theft to AST. Investigation revealed a
Black 2000 Chevy Astro Van was taken from an address on Clydesdale Dr.
in Wasilla. The theft occurred between 23:00 hours and 03:30 hours
today’s date. Value of the vehicle is estimated to be $2000.00 Anyone
with information about this crime is asked to contact AST at 373-8300,
or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333. Investigation continues.

Text:  On 5/17/08 at approximately 2320 hours the AST South Central DUI
Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near the intersection of the Old
Glenn Hwy. and S. McKechnie Loop in Palmer for an equipment violation. 
The operator was identified as Thomas L. Stanley, age 24, of Fort
Richardson.  Stanley was found to be operating the vehicle on a
cancelled Arizona drivers license.  Stanley was issued a summons to
appear in the Palmer Court for DWLC and released at the scene.

Type: DUI/MIW 4th Degree
Text: On 05/18/2008 at approximately 0210 hours the AST South-Central
DUI Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle near Mile 9 of the Old Glenn Hwy.
for erratic driving.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Dustin
Stump, age 21, of Fort Richardson.  Investigation found Stump to be
operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. 
Investigation also found Stump to be in possession of three firearms
while impaired by alcohol.  Stump was arrested for DUI and Misconduct
Involving Weapons in the 4th Degree.  Stump was remanded to the Mat-Su
Pretrial Facility and held on a bail of $2,000.00.

Text: On 5/18/08 at approximately 0423 hours the AST South Central DUI
Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle on Snowhill Ave. in Wasilla for an
equipment violation.  The operator was identified as Joshua J. Krueger,
age 26, of Wasilla.  Krueger was found to be operating the vehicle with
a suspended drivers license.  Krueger was issued a summons to appear in

Text:  On 05/18/2008, at approximately 0500 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a theft at the Mat-Su Regional Medical center in Palmer.
Investigation revealed that a medications were stolen out of the
hospital. The medications are worth approximately $ 160.17. The case is
currently under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to

Text:  On 05/18/2008, at approximately 0257 hours, Alaska State Troopers

Type: MVC-I

Text: On 05/18/08 at approximately 1344 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to a two vehicle collision, at the intersection of Knik-Goose
Bay Road and Vine Road in Wasilla, involving a 1999 Ford Taurus and a
2005 Dodge Neon.  Investigation revealed Katrina Huber, age 20 of
Wasilla, was operating the Ford and turned onto KGB Road fom Vine Road. 
Huber failed to yield to Gordon Shepard, age 20 of Wasilla, who was
driving the Dodge south bound on KGB.  The vehicles collided at the
intersection.   All occupants reported wearing seatbelts.  All occupants
were injured and transported by EMS to either Mat-Su Regional Medical
Center or Providence Medical Center in Anchorage.  Both vehicles were
totaled.

Type: Death Investigation – Natural Causes

Text: On 05-18-2008 at approximately 1030 hours, Mat-Su Emergency
Services reported to Alaska State Troopers that Christina H. Niemi, age
61 of Palmer had died at her home on Thalo Drive near Palmer.
Investigation revealed the Mrs. Niemi passed away some time during the
night from natural causes. No foul play is suspected. The State Medical
Examiner was notified who released the body to the family. Next of Kin
was present.

Text: On 5-18-2008 at approximately 1645 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of a burglary near Ardgour Court in Wasilla. 
Investigation revealed that two handguns were stolen during the course
of the burglary as well as $650.00 in cash. There was no reported damage
done to the residence during the burglary.  If you have any information

Text: On 5-18-08, at about 1800 hours, Alaska State Troopers arrested
Andrew Stroud, age 24, of Palmer, on a $1,000.00 warrant for failure to
appear on the original charge of Theft III.  Troopers contacted Stroud
at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.  Stroud was transported to Mat-Su
Pretrial where he was booked into jail with bail being set at $1,000.00

Type:  Misconduct Involving Weapons Fourth Degree, Motor Vehicle
Collision- Damage

Text:  On 5-18-08 at approximately 1655 hours, Troopers responded to a
motor vehicle collision at mile 75.5 of the Parks Highway in Willow.
Investigation revealed that a wheel had broken off of a southbound 1995
GMC Yukon and struck a northbound Peterbilt truck.  The driver of the
Yukon was identified as Richard Cordova, age 66 of Anchorage.  The
driver of the Peterbilt was identified as Steven Dufford, age 59 of
Eagle River.  Damage to each vehicle is estimated at $2,000.  All
occupants were wearing seat belts and there were no injuries.  A
passenger in the Yukon was identified as Theodore Williams, age 61 of
Anchorage.  Investigation revealed that Williams was under the influence
of alcohol and in possession of a loaded handgun.  Williams was arrested
for Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 4th Degree and remanded into
MSPT, where bail was set at $1,000 cash.

Text: On 5-18-08, at approximately 1735 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted Phillip K. Neal, age 31 of Wasilla, on a traffic stop at
Seldon Road, near Cambay Crt in Wasilla.  An investigation revealed Neal
to be driving a vehicle while his license was revoked from a prior DUI
conviction.  Neal was issued a summons to appear in court for DWLR, and
his vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Text:  On 5-17-08 at approximately 2025 hours, Troopers stopped a Yamaha
ATV on Hidden Hills Drive for operating in the roadway.  The driver was
identified as David Anderson, age 47 of Willow.  Investigation revealed
that Anderson was operating the ATV under the influence of alcohol.
Anderson was arrested and remanded into MSPT, where bail was set at
$1,000 cash.

Text: On 05/17/2008, at approximately 0630 hours, the Alaska State
Troopers in Bethel received a call from Hooper Bay Village Police
Officer Charles Simon, who reported that he arrested Ulrick Simon (age
31 of Hooper Bay) for Domestic Violence Assault. Ulrick was arraigned in
Hooper Bay. Alcohol was a factor in this incident.

Text: On 5-17-08 at 1840 hours, Gambell Village Police contacted the
Alaska State Troopers to report that Darrell Apatiki, 50 of Gambell, was
in custody.  Investigation shows Apatiki consumed alcohol in violation
of his conditions of release and probation.  Apatiki was transported to
Nome and remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center.

Gillespi, of Fairbanks after Troopers observed him in a local bar.

the Fairbanks Correction Center.

Silverton, of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed that Silverton is

Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Type: SAR

Synopsis:  On May 17, at 2149 hours, Janelle M. Burk, (DOB 6/5/85)
contacted Fairbanks AST 911 on her cell phone advising that she was lost
in the Chena River State Recreation Area. Burk advised that she had
entered the State Park, on the Lower Chena Trail located at
approximately 49 mile Chena Hot Springs around 1400 hrs. During the
course or her hike on the approximately 30 mile long trail, she became
disoriented and lost. Initially State Parks and AST responded to the
trail head. A search of the initial area by State Parks met with
negative results. The US Army MAST, unit responded at AST’s request and
after a coordinated air search Burk was located and rescued by the Army.
Burk was released to State Troopers.

Type: Assault 4th – DV / Disorderly Conduct
Text: On 5/18/2008 at 0111 hrs, Fairbanks AST received a report of an
assault that had occurred at Chena Hot Springs Resort.  Investigation
revealed that Bruce Khoa Quang Hang, age 23 of Fort Wainwright,
assaulted a family member.  Further, he challenged another person in
their group to a fight over the initial incident.  Hang was arrested for
Assault 4th (DV) and Disorderly Conduct.  He was remanded at Fairbanks
Correctional Center and held with no bail pending arraignment.

Text: On 5/18/2008 at 0412 hrs, Fairbanks AST stopped a silver 2005
Honda car on the Steese Expressway for a moving violation.  Anthony
Allen Locke, age 19 of Fort Wainwright, and Chase Ernest Waterbury, age
20 of Fort Wainwright, were passengers in the car.  Investigation
revealed that both Locke and Waterbury had been consuming alcohol.  They
were both issued summons to appear in court for Minor Consuming Alcohol.

Text: On 5/18/08, at approximately 1624 hours, a Trooper from Girdwood
conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near mile 75 of the Seward Hwy for
speeding.  An investigation revealed the driver, Marshall Parke age 30
of Sterling, had an outstanding $500.00 warrant for his arrest.  Parke
was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Anchorage Jail where
he was remanded.

Text: On 5/18/08, at approximately 1624 hours, a Trooper from Girdwood
conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Thunderbird near mile 75 of the
Seward Hwy for speeding.  An AST investigation revealed the driver of
the vehicle, Marshall Parke age 30 of Sterling, was driving the car with
a suspended drivers license.  Further investigation revealed that Parke
did not have a current insurance policy in effect on the vehicle he was
driving.  Parke was summonsed to appear in court on the charges of
Driving with a Suspended Drivers License and Failure to Maintain
Liability Insurance.  It is also noteworthy that Parke was arrested at
the scene for an outstanding $500.00 warrant which was issued by the
Homer District Court after Parke failed to appear on a charge of Failure
to Maintain Liability Insurance.

Type: Warrant Arrest
Text: On 5/16/08, Alaska Wildlife Troopers arrested Marie A. Wilson, age
20, of Juneau on a no-bail warrant. The warrant was issued in Sitka for
failure to complete sentencing on the original charge of disorderly
conduct. Wilson was remanded at Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held
without bail.
