Pierre, South Dakota - Construction Zone Fatal Crash

Pierre, SD –A Sturgis woman lost her life in a construction zone crash just before 8 a.m. (MDT) this morning. The crash happened on Interstate 90, one mile east of Sturgis.
The woman was traveling west through a construction zone. The vehicle in front of her was hauling lumber and lost part of its load. When the woman slowed her Honda Civic to avoid the lumber, she was rear-ended by a teenage boy driving a Dodge Stratus. The impact pushed the Civic into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a Setra Motor Coach, owned by Sturgis Bus Company. The bus had no passengers.
The Sturgis woman died at the scene. No one else was injured.
The crash remains under investigation. No further information on the crash or the investigation is available at this time.
