Alert Motorist Reports Generator Theft

(Lincoln, NE)- The theft of a generator from the bed of a pickup truck parked at the eastbound Milford Rest Area on Interstate 80 in Seward County was thwarted by an alert motorist.
Around 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2008, Nebraska State Patrol dispatchers received a call from a motorist, who had observed the driver of a semi load a generator into his semi truck while the owners of the pickup truck were inside the Milford Rest Area. The motorists provided a detailed description of the semi and its license plate number.
Based on the description given by the motorist, a Trooper from Headquarters Troop-Lincoln was able to stop the semi and recover the stolen generator.
The driver of the semi trailer truck 46-year-old Dennis Mack of Macomb, Michigan was arrested and lodged in the Lancaster County Jail on a charge of Theft by Unlawful Taking.
