Location: Ketchikan

Case number: 08-36834

Type: MVA-D

Text: On 05-14-2008 at approximately 1450 hrs, AST and the South Tongass
EMS responded to a report of a single vehicle collision at the
intersection of South Tongass Highway and the Mountain Point boat launch
driveway.  Investigation showed 18 year old Jessica Rusher had driven
off the roadway and struck a utility pole while operating her 1993
Plymouth sedan.  Rusher had two passengers in the vehicle; all were
wearing seatbelts and were not injured.  The cause of the collision is
believed to be a contribution of weather, lack of experience and worn
tire tread.  The vehicle sustained significant front end damage; the
utility pole was not damaged.  No citations were issued.

Type: Arson I, Criminal Mischief III
Text: On 5-13-08 at approximately 1230 hours, Alaska State Troopers
responded to report of an Arson at a residence on Theodore Drive near
Wasilla.  Investigation revealed that Robert Herman, age 22 of Houston,
set fire to his stepfather’s house in an attempt to burn the house down.
The fire was extinguished by the owner of the residence.  Herman, who
was located near the scene by Houston PD, was arrested and remand to
Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held without bail. The damage to the house
was estimated to be approximately $400.00

Type: Warrant Arrest

Text: On 5/14/08, at approximately 1000 hours, Alaska State Troopers
arrested Kindra W. Thomas, 23 years of age of Wasilla, at Palmer AST.
Thomas had an outstanding warrant for FTA for original charge of DUI.
Thomas was remanded at Matsu Pretrial Facility without bail.

Type: DWLS
Text: On 5-14-08, at 1437 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Donald
W. Box, age 58, of Houston near the intersection of Peck Road and
Lakeshore Drive, Wasilla during a traffic stop for an equipment
violation.  Investigation revealed that Box was operating the vehicle
while his license was suspended.  Box was issued a summons to appear in
court for Driving While License Suspended.  The vehicle was released to
a licensed driver.

Type: Burglary I / Theft II

Text: On 05/14/08 at approximately 1419 hours, Alaska State Troopers
received a report of a possible burglary at a residence off of Delroy
Road in Houston.  Investigation revealed that, sometime between the
evening of 05/13/08 and the afternoon of 05/14/08, the residence was
burglarized and items were taken.  Anyone with information regarding
this investigation is encouraged to call the Alaska State Troopers at
373-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.

Type:  Criminal Trespass  /  MICS VI

Text:  On 05/14/08 at approximately 1820 hours, Talkeetna AST responded
to Talkeetna for a report of a male, Dustin Bote, age 18 of Talkeetna,
creatiung a disturbance in front of Nagley’s General Store.  Bote was
arrested for Criminal trespass and MICS VI.  Bote was remanded to MatSu
Pretrial where he was held on $500 bail.

Text: On Tuesday, 5-13-08, at about 1905 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted 47 YOA Peter Terry Larionoff of Old Harbor at the Kodiak State
Airport.  Larionoff was arrested on an outstanding civil bench warrant
for failing to appear for grand jury service.  Larionoff was remanded at
the Kodiak Jail.  Bail is set at $100.00.

Text: On Tuesday, 5-13-08, at about 1712 hours, Alaska State Troopers
contacted 21 YOA Jonyssa Ignatin of Kodiak at her Mill Bay Road
residence.  Ignatin was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor Failure
to Appear for Disposition Hearing warrant.  Ignatin was remanded at the
Kodiak Jail.  Bail is set at $1,000.00.

Type: Burglary II, Vehicle Theft II, Criminal Mischief 4
Text: On 5/14/08, State Troopers in Kotzebue received a report of a
burglary at the FAA connex located at the Noorvik airport.  A yellow
SkiDoo Tundra snow machine was stolen from the connex and has not been
located as of this morning.  State Troopers are asking anyone with
information on the whereabouts of the snow machine or information on the
identity of the person(s) responsible for the burglary and theft to
contact Sgt. Karl Main with the Alaska State Troopers in Kotzebue at
1-800-789-3222.

Type: Cruelty to Animals  

Text: On 5/13/08, Nome AST received a complaint of animal cruelty at a
location approximately 4.2 miles on the Beam road.  The complaint
indicated that a horse was locked in a small shed and was being
mistreated.  Investigation determined that the stall was adequate in
size and that the horse was being fed and cared for appropriately.  Case
closed as unfounded.

Type: Firearm discharge

Text: On 5/12/08, at approximately 2215 hours, Steven Longly, 48 yoa of
Nome, reported that upon returning home he found a bullet hole in the
west facing window of his house.  It was undetermined if the hole was
caused by a bullet.  Hunters are reminded to ensure that they are aware
of the surroundings behind their targets to prevent accidental injury
and damage caused by bullets.

Type: Arrest Warrant Service

Text:  On 05-13-08 at approximately 1800 hours, Troopers contacted a
vehicle south of Nenana for a traffic infraction.  Investigation
revealed that Allen CHRISTIANSEN, 19 of the Grande Denali Hotel in
Denali, had an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear on the
original charge of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.  CHRISTIANSEN
was transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on a $1000 bail.

Case number: 08-35991

Type: Violate Conditions of Release

Text:  On 05-12-08 at 0053 hours, Troopers were dispatched to a Carlo
Creek business for the report of a disturbance and fight.  Investigation
revealed that Kelly DURBIN, 21 of Carlo Creek, was highly intoxicated,
and had just been released from jail on 05-11-08 on a Driving While
Intoxicated charge.  One of DURBIN’s release conditions was that he was
not to consume alcohol.  DURBIN was arrested for violating his release
conditions, and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center. 
Investigation complete.

Text:  On 05-14-08 at approximately 1354 hours, Troopers stopped Kevin
ASHTON, 23 of Anchorage, for a traffic infraction at mile 182.5 of the
Parks Highway.  Investigation revealed that ASHTON had a cash only
arrest warrant for failure to appear for a misdemeanor court appearance.
 ASHTON was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional
Center.  Investigation complete.

Type: Failure to Register As a Sex Offender II
Text: On 05/12/08 at approximately 1245 Hrs, Alaska State Troopers
contacted a suspicious male walking near mile twenty of the Kenai Spur
Highway. The male was later identified as William O. Samson Jr.
Investigation revealed that Samson was a convicted sex offender from
Washington State and that he had not registered in Alaska as he had been
living in Alaska for approximately one year. Samson was arrested for
Failure to Register As a Sex Offender II, and was remanded to Wildwood
Pretrial Facility on $500.00 bail.

Text: Post Press Release: On 5-13-08, James Pennington (49 YOA) of
Tacoma, Wa., skipper and permit holder of the F/V Sea Venture ADF&G #
08225 pled no contest in the Unalaska District Court for participating
in a parallel ground fish fishery and failed to have an active VMS on
board the vessel as required by the National Marine Fishery Service.
Pennington was fined and ordered to pay $500.

Text:  On 5-13-08, Soldotna AWT issued a summons to Jeffrey L. Duck, 43
yoa from Port Alsworth.  Duck was summons for guiding (as an assistant
guide) without a guide license.  Investigation revealed that Duck’s most
recent guide license had expired on 12/31/07 and he had been guiding
bear hunters in May 2008.  Arraignment is scheduled for June 6, 2008 in
Kenai District Court.

Case number:  08-36508

Type: Death Investigation

Text: On 05/13/08, at approximately 1602 hours, Anchorage Correctional
Complex contacted AST to report the death of an inmate inside one of the
housing modules.  Investigation revealed Christopher Adam Newman, age 42
of Wasilla, was found deceased in his cell as a result of an apparent
suicide.  There were no signs of foul play. Newman’s body was
transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.  Next
of kin has been notified. The investigation continues.
