El Cajon, CA - El Cajon Man Arrested, Sports Coach Charged With Child Molestation

On Thursday, March 13th, at about 1900 hours, Sheriff’s Detectives with the San Diego Fugitive Task Force arrested 41
year old James Phillips in the 1500 block of Harbison Canyon Rd. in El Cajon. Detectives took Phillips into custody
without incident.
Sheriff’s Child Abuse Detective Lisa Brannan started the investigation of James Phillips in February 2008. Detective
Brannan was able to identify six(6) separate victims, ranging in age from nine to thirteen years. Phillips cooperated with
the investigation and admitted to one of the children’s allegations.
Phillips served as a youth softball and basketball coach in the Julian and Ramona areas of San Diego County. Phillips
coached one of the six victims. Sheriff’s Detectives believe there may be additional victims that have not contacted law
enforcement. Phillips is in custody at Central Jail on three counts of continuous molestation of a child and three additional
counts of child molestation.
