On March 6, 2007 at approximately 2:00 p.m. Santa Cruz Police officers were contacted by officials at Mission Hill Junior High School about the report of a girl student that had inappropriately touched multiple other girl students. According to school officials, a fifteen year-old student was accused by another girl student of inappropriately touching her while at school. All of the inappropriate touching occurred over the clothing.

Further investigation by school officials and the Santa Cruz Police Department determined that a total of eight victims were inappropriately touched by the fifteen year-old girl. All of the known victims and their parents have been notified by school officials and police investigators are working with them to obtain additional information. It is unclear during what timeframe the inappropriate touching began. Currently, information is preliminary and the department is working with school officials to identify any other potential victims and obtain additional information.

Due to the fact that the girl was removed from school, the police department does not believe there is any threat to public safety beyond the incidents that have already occurred. After interviewing the girl and her family, the Santa Cruz Police Department transported her to Juvenile Hall on the sexual battery charges.
