Aaron McLeod, 28 years old of 412 Horseshoe Road, died February 25th at UNC Hospitals. McLeod was run over several times Friday, February 22nd.
Stanton Moretti, Jr., 41 years old of 199 Raymond Street Raeford, was charged with Assault With A Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury With Intent To Kill.
Moretti’s wife was standing outside of Primo’s Pizza, 5909 Yadkin Road, after 9:30 p.m. when McLeod approached her with a knife and attempted to stab her. Mrs. Moretti called out to her husband who came outside and fired two shots from his handgun. McLeod fled on foot down Horseshoe Road. Mr. Moretti got into his SUV, caught up to Mr. McLeod and struck him several times with his vehicle.
McLeod was initially transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and then moved to UNC Hospitals.
Investigators are now working this incident as a homicide. The charges against Mr. Moretti have not been changed at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
The stabbing incident involving Mrs. Moretti and Aaron McLeod is still under investigation. No charges were filed against Mr. McLeod and now that he is deceased, charges will not be filed.
