San Marcos resident, Noe Chavez Garcia was lured out of his residence on December 18, 2004 by Jose Antonio Lopez Tejada, and Gerardo Matadamas Gomez. Lopez Tejada contacted Garcia and told him that he needed a ride to theairport in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Lopez Tejada, an acquaintance of Garcia, told Garcia that one of his family members was dying, and he needed a ride to the airport. Once in Tijuana, Lopez Tejada and Gomez directed Garcia through some city streets, causing the victim to lose sense of where he was. When Garcia questioned the route, both men told the Garcia to stop the vehicle, repeatedly shot him, leaving him for dead.

The shooting scene was located by San Diego Sheriff’s detectives with the assistance of the F.B.I. and Mexican law enforcement officers as “Las Colas Del Matamoros.” Mexican officials refer to the area where Garcia was shot as “El Fin del Mundo” (The End of the World) Mexican officials described the area as a known area for “body dumps,” and other violent crimes. The area is east of the Tijuana airport.

Garcia survived the gunshot wounds, and was able to provide San Diego Sheriff’s Detectives with information on the two gunmen. During the course of the investigation, Detective Benny Cruz learned that Garcia’s wife, Magali Cabrera de Garcia, was having an extra-martial affair with Gomez. Detective Cruz conducted an extensive investigation which resulted in the arrest of Garcia’s wife, Magali. Detectives believe Magali was the master-mind in the execution style shooting of Noe Garcia. Magali was arrested by Detective Cruz on February 8th, at a business in Vista, California.

Magali Cabrera was booked into the Vista Detention Facility by Cruz, charging her with the attempted murder of her now, ex-husband, Noe Garcia.
