Investigators seek answers about dead body located in central Mesa canal
Shortly before 10:00 a.m. on the morning of February 12, 2008, the Mesa Police Department responded to a canal located just west of Greenfield Road between Broadway and Southern after a witness contacted the police to report a possible dead body floating in the water.
Officers responded and located the body of an unknown male floating in the canal. EMS personnel confirmed that the male was, in fact, deceased. Investigators are in the process of trying to identify the dead male. Preliminary research of missing person files in Mesa did not produce any leads. Due to the progression of decomposition of the body, investigators cannot give an accurate age range of the victim. However, we can confirm that the body is that of an adult male. Investigators are waiting for autopsy results from the Medical Examiner’s office to pinpoint the cause of death.
