City of Thibodaux, La. - Aggravated Battery / Homicide

On February 8, 2008 at 11:28PM, the Thibodaux Police Department received a call from
Thibodaux Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Room regarding two subjects arriving at their
facility with injuries. Shortly after a second call was received stating one of the subjects was
deceased.
As police arrived and began their investigation they learned from 34 y/o Christopher Johnson
of 617 St. Charles Street in Thibodaux that he and his girlfriend, 23 y/o Tameka Carter of 1734
South Barbier of two years, had been walking along a trail in the area of Thompson Road and
Ridgefield Road when they were approached by multiple males who attempted to rob Johnson.
When Johnson told the males he did not have anything, they attacked him knocking him
unconscious. When he awoke, he observed Carter, lying motionless in a near by ditch.
Afterward they were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Evidence collected thus far indicated suspicion of Johnson’s recollection of events. Therefore
a warrant was obtained for Johnson’s arrest on (1ct) Second Degree Murder with a bond in the
amount of $1,000.000.00.
Johnson was later transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he remains. At
this time, the investigation into the death of Tameka Carter remains ongoing.
******************UPDATE OF SHOOTING HOMICIDE*********************
As Thibodaux Police continue their investigation of the shooting death of Eric Smith that
occurred on February 5, 2008 at the “Scrubs” carwash on Gerald T. Peltier, an arrest has been
made. 24 Y/O Brandon Harry of 110 Iris Street in Thibodaux was arrested on a warrant for (1ct)
Principle to Second Degree Murder with a bond in the amount of $250,000.00 bond. Harry was
later transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he remains.
