(Lincoln, NE) – The 52nd Basic Recruit Class of the Nebraska State Patrol
will graduate at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2008. The ceremony will
be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in downtown
Lincoln. Guest speakers include Governor Dave Heineman and Attorney
General Jon Bruning. The Oath of Office will be administered by Secretary
of State John Gale.
The 24 members of the class have completed 24 weeks of training at the
Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy in Grand Island. Their instruction
involved more than 1150 hours and 70 exams. Eighteen new Troopers will be
assigned to the Traffic Services Division of the Nebraska State Patrol,
while six graduates will be assigned to the Carrier Enforcement Division.
Two recruits will be badged by their father. Recruits Nathan and Travis
Veal will be badged by their father Sgt. Robert Veal of North Platte.
The newly badged officers will now undergo six months of on-the-job
instruction with veteran Troopers in the field. The members of the 52nd
Recruit Class are listed below along with their hometowns and new duty
